But I am mostly disappointment at the fact that we were still harbouring tribalists in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Mbeki was indeed right that we need to renew our membership, from now on, it's quality over quantity.

You will always be welcomed at the DA if you want to start over with fresh membership.

Yes, but it is pretty much confirmed that turnout is not going to even break the 60% mark, compared to the 66%, I was totally convinced that we are going to have a higher turnout and that's where the ANC's strength is.

But of all the things that kills my soul is watching the ANC battle the MK in Mpumalanga, not the EFF, not the DA, not all the new parties, but the MK. I have always known that Gauteng is a mini KZN but MP took the wind out of me, I honestly thought our people were better than that.

But anyway...

Given the results were seeing I would hazard a guess a higher turnout may have been worse for the ANC.

I have to agree with you. Democracy just cannot work with people who are stupid enough to try and bring Zuma back and women. I have been saying this for years.

No, as I said we are down but not out, we are gracious in defeat and fully committed to our democracy contrary to all the naysayers who were claiming the ANC is some power hungry party that will do everything to stay in power.

As I say, it still gives me encouragement that our people still don't see the DA or any of the Moonshot gang as an option, our people are still there, waiting for us to convince them.

I don't think so, funny thing that the polls were always saying that and insisting low turnout is good for the ANC yet here we are.

The MK support has a ceiling outside of KZN, they would have done their thing and we would have easily overturned it, turnout has always been the ANC's strong point.

The polls couldn't factor in MK sufficiently, and they've surprised everyone even in kzn. But I think you're mistaken about them having a ceiling outside kzn.

But it wouldn't have just been MK that would be a problem, the PA gobbled anc votes as well and that would likely have accelerated with a higher turnout.

Let the gloaters, gloat.

This looks like ultimately an ANC factional battle. Politics isn't stagnant and the choices of different demographics change.

I think a weakened ANC shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. Time for further introspection and moving forward with the right people.

I don't think it's something to be excited about if we get an EFF/MK minister of finance sworn in.
