ANC discusses cooperation with other parties as it seems set to lose KZN​


By noon on Thursday, the ANC privately acknowledged it had lost its dominance in KwaZulu-Natal. At 6pm, it reached out to political parties for a chat about cooperation.

The initial reach-outs were made at the provincial level as word came of a possible toenadering between the ANC, DA and IFP, Daily Maverick reliably learnt. It was styled as being in the interest of stable governance in a possible tandem agreement between KwaZulu-Natal and national governments. But nothing will happen until the ANC National Executive Committee meets.

The outlook in KwaZulu-Natal for the ANC looked dim at noon when the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party was narrowly trumping the ANC, while the IFP had 36.8% of the votes counted and the DA 11.4%. By 7.30pm, that provincial outlook had turned decidedly bleak for the ANC, with 21.27% against MK’s 43.4% support from the votes counted, while the IFP stood at 17.9% and the DA at 10.3%.

So we celebrating the fact that the MK (a grouping of corrupt ex ANC criminals) a more extreme, nationalist party funded by a string of dodgy dudes, has eaten into the ANCs traditional voter base? These are the same people that caused a lot of the mess that the country is in.

ANC+MK= Slightly less than the ANC last elections.

How would this translate into a good scenario?

No we're celebrating the fact that the ANC will have to get their house in order and work with the other parties. They can no longer continue unchecked.

Surely if they're as principled as some here believe, they would put the country first and do that instead of running to MK to stay in power.

This choice will finally expose what they stand for...

Today I went to work at one of the biggest DA run public provincial hospitals in the DA led province.

The elevator has been broken for ages, I took the stairs. (I should have taken a picture). There was a massive ass queue for basic meds like panado and ibuprofen at 8am.

I had to work in a room where the overhead room light barely works because they cannot order a simple replacement light bulb. The dental chair is stuck in one position and the dental light doesn't work. This makes working impossible and I am a tall guy. These problems were reported months ago.

I deal with specialised cases like oral cancers. How am I supposed to see anything- I just try with my cellphone light sometimes. I did biopsies and sutured today under impossible situations, waiting for assistants because that place is understaffed. I had to move a patient off the chair because there was still blood splatter from someone else's patient who didn't wipe down the chair probably.

And this is not the only Western Cape public health facility I work at. The others have even worse horror stories.

ANC looks to loose majority in NC. Still not over 50% at 99% done counting.

MP also at risk.

National; It’s over anyone thinking ANC will get 50% is delusional. Oh and @semaphore still think people are dreaming about low 40s for ANC? Or is 42% not “low 40s” for you?

Why did the greatest Gauteng premier in history campaign for the opposition parties? Should he not have campaigned for ANC? I don't understand.
 
Looks like our people let us down when we needed them the most, again turnout look like it was the deciding factor in this election, when the MK and DA were able to get their numbers to the voting stations our people were happy to have a holiday, very disappointing, especially for Gauteng after all of Panyaza's hard work.

Well done to every supporter of the Liberation Movement who voted, special gratitude to the EC, NW and Limpopo, our comrades there are the true reflection of Amaqabane ka Tambo, you stood firm and unshaken in the defence of your Liberation Movement, we are forever in your debt.

We are down, but not out, we have managed to rid ourselves of undesirable characters and our renewal program is strong, we will build from what we have, no time to wallow in our misery, local government elections are coming up soon and we should be ready for that.

We are still encouraged by the fact that the DA hasn't benefitted anything meaningful from our decline and still remains a 20% party, the other Moonshot partners also crashed spectacularly, showing that our people were not moved by their WMC sponsored agenda.

We remain committed and resolute in our mission to make the lives of our people better.

Absolutely. Any death is a tragedy.

That section of road is especially dangerous at the best of time anyway.

How the 3 provinces I mentioned fought gallantly against enemies from outside and within does make me a little emotional, I am sad that I don't have enough words to thank them.

But I am mostly disappointed at the fact that we were still harbouring tribalists in Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Mbeki was indeed right that we need to renew our membership, from now on, it's quality over quantity.
