I hope one of the things a GNU 2 would do is abolish deputy ministers... They don't really have a purpose...Yep, but the vacancies left will be filled with unknowns.
We could go through their submitted parliamentary list to see who will be left out.
If we assume there's going to be 30 ANC ministers (unknown given the coalition negotiations), we could assume that everyone after position 159+30 would be left out...
Can we try and just cut a few departments first, then maybe deputies will have a reason to exist.I hope one of the things a GNU 2 would do is abolish deputy ministers... They don't really have a purpose...
I think it might have been added because of negotiations way back when. Will need constitutional amendment too.
Why not cut both? Even in the Constitution itself, there isn't a specific function for the Deputies, just copies of Ministers...Can we try and just cut a few departments first, then maybe deputies will have a reason to exist.
Something I'm curious about. Would we see Gogo in Cabinet with a GNU? She has experience specifically with Education MEC for WC before... Maybe Basic Education Minister?

Derogatory name for Zille.Who is Gogo?
And the DA didn’t keep the possibility a secret either, which annoyed some of the electorate.

Does the DA actually say that? I couldn't open the article. While I do understand the need for it post elections, it seems like a very cold move.
Neither can I.Does the DA actually say that? I couldn't open the article.
You don't need deputy ministers, however small the cabinet. The DGs are responsible for the day to day stuff, and will increase head count in the department as needed...Can we try and just cut a few departments first, then maybe deputies will have a reason to exist.
No they don't... John was very explicit that the MPC continues and they will keep working together from what I remember of his speech.Does the DA actually say that? I couldn't open the article.
I read another tweet that said this:Does the DA actually say that? I couldn't open the article.
No they don't... John was very explicit that the MPC continues and they will keep working together from what I remember of his speech.
Yes the DA did say this, but nothing about ending the mpc.I read another tweet that said this:
"JUST IN: DA concedes its multi-party charter does not have enough numbers to form a government."
Gives more clarity.
From me, it isn't meant in a bad way.Derogatory name for Zille.
Nickname for Helen Zille, I and some others in the thread use for her.Who is Gogo?
Tbh it makes no sense to drag em all along. Just work with IFP.No they don't... John was very explicit that the MPC continues and they will keep working together from what I remember of his speech.
