They are the largest party in KZN at the moment. Equalling just short of the other 3 runners up combined- ANC+IFP+DA.

Noone expected this. We better hold our breaths for what's to come tomorrow.

And so he should, he is after all a man of honour, integrity and wisdom....
 
Zuma's people will likely be operating from the opposition benches.

They will be kinda toothless without a majority.
 
Out of curiosity, what happens if a coalition gets more than 50% and starts a government, but then infighting means nothing gets done. Does it just break up and another coalition is made? Are ministers fired and new ones put in their place, again and again?

There's also a high likelihood, given his age, that he will pop off in the next 5 years, which will make the MK even more disorganised than it is already.

President has executive authority. If a coalition partner is unhappy they can bring up a motion of no confidence.
 
Steenhuisen says they will approach the talks with "cool heads and an open mind."

"For the Democratic Alliance, burying our heads in the sand while South Africa faces its greatest threat since the dawn of democracy, is not an option," says Steenhuisen.
"Because, before all else, we are patriotic South Africans who love this country. That is why we will not recoil from complexity or difficult decisions."

Steenhuisen: "In all that we do, we will be guided by the DA's fundamental commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, promoting nonracialism, effecting clean, accountable government with zero tolerance for corruption, and building a social market economy that creates jobs."

This team will report back to Steenhuisen and the FedEx before the party decides.
He says the DA will always put the people of SA first.

Ivan Meyer, Siviwe Gwarube, Alan Winde, Tony Leon, Ryan Coetzee and Helen Zille will facilitate the DA's talks with other parties.

The DA's FedEx adopted a resolution for the DA to talk with other parties upholding the Constitution.
