Chief Justice Raymond Zondo will hand over political party lists of candidates to represent them in the National Assembly and provincial legislatures at 14:00 on Thursday this week.
"It is an established practice in South Africa that after the announcement by the IEC of the results of the National and Provincial elections, the IEC hands over the lists of members... to the Chief Justice who then hands them over to the Secretary of Parliament," the Office of the Chief Justice said in a statement on Tuesday.
This is among the steps taken by the Chief Justice before the official first sitting of Parliament in just under two weeks' time when members are sworn in, and a Speaker of the National Assembly is elected.
During the first sitting or soon thereafter, the President of the Republic of South Africa for the 7th administration will be elected.
The Presidential Inauguration will then be held and in the days following that, he will select and announce his Cabinet.

Zuma playing games again

JOHANNESBURG - There are reports that the MK Party is planning to boycott Parliament over complaints with the national elections.

The party is asking the IEC for a recount.

MK has 58 MPs set to go to the National Assembly.

According to the Constitution the National Assembly must have a minimum of 350 Members of Parliament and a maximum of 400.

The speaker is going to be kept busy

I think most of the spoilt ballots are deliberate spoiling of the ballot.
I think 90% of spoiled ballots are people too stupid to make a cross inside the square next to the political party's name.

We should make the voting more difficult with some random instructions like draw a triangle on the national ballot and a circle region ballot.

I read somewhere that one of the ballots contested was someone who drew circles next to their party of choice and not an X.

It was counted in the end.
