One of the interesting early trends that was spotted on the voting was foreign policy especially Middle East and Russia/Ukraine had no meaningful effect on votes.

So maybe they just hoping to stay relevant after they got all the support leading up to the elections and since parties see no gain or loss from there stance on the Middle East, so in the interest of keeping the GNU working they might just sweep it under rug and ignore.

It is arguably easier to imagine the South African economy recovering from years of load shedding and State Capture and returning to 3% GDP growth than a tired, sclerotic and divided UK.
