This idiot is a victim of his own doing. He is not being treated unfairly. He is not on trial yet... but I recall Malema being taken to court for his racist chants. Maybe thats what he has coming.
 
Did everyone watch the same full 6 min video I did?

Context is key, people. He literally says "What I just said I don't mean, I am making a point" - Which he does. Sure, his language is not great. But context is very important here.

If a black person said this' no one would bat an eyelid. But because the dude is white and said somethings - it's "problematic" and "racist"

SA will forever be trapped in this racism cycle and until we can move past it, we are not going to grow.

So personally I haven't watched the video, and probably won't cos Renaldo irritates me and he just has that PK type of face for me.

BUT do I think he was racist? Probably not within context.
Do I think the diatribe was stupid on his part while he is trying to build a political career? Fsck yes emphatically so.
Do I think the DA can keep him in Parliament with this sort of thing now hanging over his head? No not really, it will detract from any good work that they do try and do.

Politics is unfortunately very much about perceptions and not facts.

I will point to Panty. He very likely does do a fair amount of good, but for one side of the political divide in this country he's a completely incompetent populist idiot and it will take moving a mountain to change that opinion.

Problem is if they keep caving, they'll end up with no one, as other parties will constantly chip and find anything to throw at them. Remember we're dealing with a majority that takes verbatim what is said. So if they call you a racist, you're a racist.

The black people (I mislike the words, blacks, whites) singing the song sure do hate white people but I doubt any of those arm chair soldiers have the balls to do anything about killing anyone. The black people in this country killed fellow black people in a fit of xenophobia and still do. They have been singing that song since the EFF launched and even before but we're still waiting for them to act. Not happening.

Except there are farm murders happening a lot and the kind of killings aren't just simple shootings, it's sheer torture and grotesque killings. If this wasn't happening sure.

I 100% don't disagree and I personally would want the DA to stand their ground, but I'm also aware that at this point the whole "GNU" is probably very fragile and backing someone like Renaldo could have dire consequences for the country as a whole.

They were murdering farmers before that. The people killing farmers aren't political - I admit there have been cases where farm murders didn't relate to economic crime like poachers, grazing, land disputes, and sometimes labour. But most of it is crime with the collusion of workers and former workers.
