I don't think the 2 are coupled, but them sitting out of the initial sitting basically hands the province to the "opposition" as it were, and it will be difficult for them to overturn that move but not impossible.

The point is if the commies now argue that the DA isn't 99% black they are missing the point of democracy. Lots of leftist actually don't get this entire representation thing. IMO the DA has hit a glass ceiling- by shedding their image and growing as a more pro-black party they alienate their core electorate.

I guess they will accept that they will always be a less than 25% party and try to pack a punch above their weight.

So you've picked up Champys "never more than a 20% party" torch then.

Might annoy you to find out that its likely that in the not too distant future we won't see any party with more than 20-25% of the vote.

I also think the makeup of the party generally should represent the makeup of their voters. In South Africa- we must accept that race issues will always be utilized politically. Race forms our identity in SA. Maybe it will change in the future but definitely not in our lifetimes.

If for eg. White people don't vote for the ANC- it doesn't make sense that we have a 50/50 black- white ratio. I'm not sure about the demographics and race of DA voters but it will be interesting to see if the race ratio of DA politicians represent the race of their voters?

They wont need much more than 25% with the trajectory the glorious looting movement is on. Last hope for the GLM is that DA is able to help them keep their head above water.

Why can't a black vote for a white? Why can't a white make life better for a black?

I still don't understand why facts touches you people on your feels, a 20% party is a 20% party.

Wake me up in the not so distant future, I will extend the term to all parties who are 20% parties.

Because we don't live in an ideal world. And race politics is ingrained in South Africans.
