I said the alliances they are making are not based on which parties have close policies but all about choosing the lesser evil, if we are to look at policies then the DA and ANC couldn't be further apart with just one likely converging view being Land redistribution policy only.

EFf and ANC will never get into bed together. Far too much is at stake now. For the ANC to go "Okay, we are out of GNU, we going to join a 9% party - because we like JuJu"

No, that's just not happening. EFF has literally nothing to offer the ANC and the ANC would be stabbing itself in the heart doing that. It would be the end of them, even before 2026 elections.

I think you need to go digging into the policies a bit more.

The DA and ANC are not actually miles apart, but that come at the policies from different directions.

The EFF on the other hand is miles away and go in the opposite direction.

And the lesser evil for the ANC at this point is the DA and other smaller parties in the GNU... The EFF and MK are mortal enemies to the ANC in ways you are just glossing over, and an alliance with them at the national level will almost definitely be the death of the ANC in short order.

I don't see anyone bothering those two young ladies from the PA or any other young people in parliament.

John was not a victim for being young, he was a victim because it is DA supporters who were on Malema's case after discovering his unflattering matric results, then Malema went on to get his degree and after that it was discovered that John has no post matric qualifications.

Remember how many articles MyBb used to have about party leaders qualifications to delight the DA supporters on the forum when it was Zuma and Malema who were at the receiving end of the jokes?

Firstly I don't follow any social media news because I'm not on social media. Secondly, just last week in a press conference - not some social media post - Julius laid out his discussions with the ANC and what he required. You're living in lalaland if you think that the DA's hard public stance on this agreement cannot upset the apple cart. There are many in the ANC, at this very moment, who would happily see the ANC partner with the EFF instead.

As for Julius losing his support base... In that very same press conference he alluded to being aware that this may be the natural death of his party.

Other than that, there seems to be this idea around here that the DA can call shots because the ANC need them when the opposite is actually true. The DA need the ANC and will have to play nice in order to keep the EFF out.

The IFP guy, Hlabisa, is trying to mend these fences now but he is in it for himself too because a DA withdrawal leaves KZN hung.

The DA needs the ANC, the ANC needs the DA in many ways, both parties need to man the fsck up and realise that they need each other.

The ANC (at least from a national level) do seem to be aware that the EFF has a tendency to try be the "tail that wags the dog" and I think many of the more senior people aren't keen on giving up that much of their future direction to a party like the EFF. Also there has been an indication that the populism that is marketed by the EFF is not being entirely bought by the electorate, and I have a feeling the LGE in 2026 will further entrench that trend.
