LOL. The ANC has a problem of deeply embedded patronage networks which rely on incompetent, corrupt & useless ANC cadres to keep the funds flowing - which is why Lesufi was going to go ahead and appoint MECs from only the ANC. The same problem is rearing itself on the national stage, where the ANC want to continue as if they didn't get a huge smacking from the electorate. Receiving the number of Cabinet positions proportionate to their vote share is not outrageous - quite the contrary, it's fair.

assuming the ANC is not posting that warning to itself, nor anyone outside of the GNU

Seems the EFF has a better chance getting RDP houses built in Orania than the GNU giving into DA's "outlandish" demands.

Given how important the role is, it makes more sense for the different oversight committees to interview and appoint DGs in the public domain. The ministry can put forward the list of candidates...

This makes me think about how ANC eventually forced NP to compromise or get wins against them (and sometimes vice versa) in the run-up to 1994.
The same is happening with DA and ANC. DA says "Well, if you don't play ball nationally, we'll let you drown in GP and KZN with MK/EFF". Then there are also potential local gov agreements as well.
ANC will have to accede some stuff to DA eventually, they don't hold all the cards, but DA does.
Also, while Rama and Johnno get along well it seems, Zille and Co are going to balls to the wall to bring ANC to heel at the negotiations.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having your own cadres as DG's, just don't cry when it's called exactly what it is, cadre deployment.

Even if they do, I don't think it matters. I'm going with the assumption that the opposition exercises oversight over the ministry, as it should be. There's a compromise where each side gets a say in who's appointed, and most importantly it's transparent to the public...
