What does @C4Cat, the only known GOOD supporter, think about them supporting the ANC?
In this case I think they made the correct choice - and it wasn't about supporting the ANC, it was about supporting democracy. The way you get rid of a cabinet is through national elections. There is one coming up in 2024. This nonsense with motions of no confidence in an elected government is just posturing, playing for the crowd. DA trying to keep themselves relevant with theatrics. That tweet is an example.

I mean really, what do you think would have been the result had they been successful in this motion? Chaos and confusion, that's what.

So pretty much the same situation we're in now..... It's not like the ministers actually do anything

What a GOOD story. One corrupt party supported another corrupt party. You must feel so GOOD!

The motion was held and the motion fell flat, democracy was done, I know it's disappointing but take like a big boy and stop you silly attempts at emotional blackmail.

There is a good reason why we have different parties in parliament, they all have a mind of their own, your problem is that you expect everyone to follow the DA's lead and think like DA, that's not how democracy works.

At least they have the support of the EFF, that must be encouraging.

Another failing by ANC appointed cadres. R90 million stolen and they want to introduce a state bank ?

Between 16 and 28 October last year individuals presumed to be either employed by Postbank or by a Postbank contractor stole at least R89 459 330 in physical cash through SASSA accounts. The brazen fraud involved illicitly crediting grant beneficiary accounts with large sums and then emptying these accounts out at ATMs.

Our version of democracy dictates that you should follow the criminals. Go it. What is sad is that you think us law abiding citizens should be happy with it.

Our version of democracy, just like most democracies dictates that the majority always wins, I am not asking you to be happy with anything, you have no choice until your precious DA has enough votes to be the majority party.

Hard luck if you thought there was another way of circumventing this simple tenet on which the concept of democracy is built on.

Well this was said with loud applause and clapping from ANC members in parliament. Different face now but same values.

President Jacob Zuma has stunned opposition MPs by claiming ANC MPs have more “rights” because they are in a majority.

“We (the ANC) have more rights here because we are in a majority. You (opposition) have fewer rights because you are in a minority,” he said with a smile, to heckling and murmurs from the opposition benches.

So 100% democracy was done, and even the DA didn't expect the motion to actually carry.

But its the more subtle parts of democracy that were fully on show yesterday... Any party can bring a motion of this sort, but also it showed which parties were on which side of the fence really.

I fully agree, the DA has a political campaign going on, and yesterday was part of that. They saw who is on their side and who is not, they would be slightly worried that they have the EFF but not the IFP, especially with the newly formed alliance in mind. COPE is a dying party which will most likely not exist in parliament come 2024 so the are probably not too worried about them.

So the alliance from the local government is still not something they can count on with the IFP falling in and out of love and the unwavering EFF support the DA doesn't know what to make of.

I think the IFP played a very pragmatic game yesterday.. which is also the "complication" with democracy... its not so easy to necessarily do a one and done type of event like this and see who is on your side and who isn't...

Also local government politics are a very different kettle of fish to national government politics, and I would be surprised if the DA thought that they would transition seamlessly.

There is no permanent alliance partners in politics. Many opposition parties would side with the ANC if given jobs and access to resources.

Even the ex leader of the VF+ Pieter Mulder took a minister job under Zuma.

Of course there are no permanent alliances in politics, but I think you would find that the bigger opposition parties (excluding the EFF) would be very wary of being seen to bend to the ANCs will at this point...

Our political landscape is at somewhat of an inflection point and parties are jockeying to try land in a good space when they settle.

And in the FF plus defence they chased him away, never to be heard of again after that betrayal.

I saw our Ukraine ambassador is a Groenewald and I wondered if he is also aligned to the Freedom Front since they are not averse to families being in prominent positions in the party.
