I don't agree with Mashaba's political views but he is a smart politican. I think ASA could get anywhere between 2-6% in the next election and will win the swing vote. Others will vote for them out of the novelty due to the failure of any of the big three to impress.

Mashaba's challenge is to ensure that ASA does not become a personality cult like EFF who would defnitely catastrophically fizzle out had Malema had to suddenly go.

If Mashaba plays his cards right, he should step away from leadership after 2024 and put Bongani Baloyi in the role.

I think that's more realistic, both COPE and EFF got around 6% in the first national election and they were way more popular than ActionSA.

Cope started out with a bang but Zuma outwitted them politically and most of thr budding members jumped ship.

Chris Pappas from DA was also one of the Cope originals.

That's why I say the first election is always a ball, things start settling down at the second one, the problem with ActionSA is very simple, they are not a national party, both COPE and EFF were at the time, both COPE and EFF were led by well known politicians with a track record, Mashaba as much as I like him simply does not have what Lekota and Juju had, it is going to take a while for him.

Between now and 2024 ASA will simply not have enough time to mobilize in all provinces so they will still most likely go into the next election still a suburban party that is mostly represented in big cities.

You will be surprised. Some people also like Mashaba because he's not a career politician and they feel he's genuine in that regard.

If they could win wards in KZN where Mashaba is virtually unknown, I think they have potential.

They will most likely eat into the DA's vote in Eastern Cape now because of Trollip defecting.

I have no doubt about their potential, I just think people are grossly overestimating the effort that goes into building a political party that is good enough to compete.

Mashaba's core is the middle class and urban voters, that's where he is building from, that's why most of his votes come from Gauteng, unfortunately the middle class is not going to give him the magical 10%, they need to mobilize where the masses are and for now they just don't have the right people for that, it's a good start with Trollip but they need more people with the right charisma to appeal to people at grassroots. That is not going to happen in 2 years.

Besides those challenges they are still going to have fallouts, as we have seen with their leadership in Soweto and Makhosi Khoza in KZN, they just don't have the muscle to bulldoze through that for now so it is going to affect them more than it would a bigger party. But they will get there with focus and determination, 4 to 5% is my conservative estimate, if they do get 6% I would be pleasantly surprised.
 
I think with the declining support in NMB ActionSA are also going to poach Nqaba "The Comeback Kid" from the DA, if the DA failed to get NMB with the low turnout there won't be much left for him to stay for.

The middle class vote is a disproprationly high amount of votes in SA.

Township non voter turnout is very high and I think it's only likely to get higher as the years go by.

ANC elite knew that that there is no way that they can educate the moron masses that vote for them. Even though they have had at least 20 years to fix it. The facts suggest that the ANC are unlikely to rule for as long the National Party did.

Ughhhhhhh. I think the vast majority of South Africans realise that the ANC has ****ed up the country... Not all is lost as of yet like you're making it out to be.

Nah, I've noticed a lot of them but nothing can beat Rambo's (heard he was banned) desire for British occupation of SA... That one takes the cake on hatred for SA.
