The DA Youth elected a new interim leader on Saturday.

The new leadership was elected during a virtual voting-only federal congress and will lead the DA Youth until the party's elective congress next year.

Nicholas Nyati was elected as interim leader and Ndipiwe Olay as the interim federal chairperson.
Nyati was previously the president of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Nelson Mandela University – he was at the forefront of Fees Must Fall protests at the university in 2016.

Nyati currently serves as a councillor in the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality.

"The campaign stops now and the hard work begins. We have a collective responsibility to ensure that we rebuild this structure, and I hope you will continue taking our calls as we craft a new path in this regard," he said.

He is concerned about the country's future while busy supporting Mkhwebane to stay in office and continue her nefarious agenda? I guess he never paused to catch on the irony.

Yeah, perhaps he has this weird idea that she's actually good at her job and not just a RET cadre? lol

Holomisa is hardly the champion we need to save the country. He showed that party loyalty trumps service when the DA was in alliance with them in NMB. While the DA weren't good partners, the General wouldn't remove his man because he didn't want to lose voter support

Does anyone know what Private Members Bill they're talking about?
Lol, they are still singing about voting for Shenge, the more things change the more they stay the same with the IFP.

I don't know what Private Members Bill are they talk about in particular but a private member's bill is a bill that is initiated by an MP instead of how its usually done through ministries or parliamentary committees

Check this out, a quote from the article.

A legal opinion which was sent to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, almost two months ago confirms that Parliament is empowered to and should begin the work of processing the Zondo Commission report. This is a massive departure from the Speaker’s argument that Parliament should wait until the President tables his implementation plan before beginning the work of holding those who have damning findings against them accountable.

Mapisa-Nqakula has been stalling this process in the National Assembly Programming Committee (NAPC) while sitting on a legal opinion drafted by Parliament’s own legal services for several weeks.
Seems like Parly can start without waiting for Rama according to Parly's own legal teams... ANC is stalling... Seems like ANC interference in Parly again.

This is where I can agree with Mashaba/ASA that the Speaker of Parly should be completely independent of party politics and must be a former or current Judge of the High Court of South Africa, the Supreme Court, or the Constitutional Court...

It won't solve the problem you are trying to solve, some people insist the judiciary is in the pocket of the ANC so they will still find fault with whoever you appoint there, especially since the person will have to be appointed by the National Assembly which consists of majority ANC members.

Remember this? Even the highest court in the land is not immune from unfounded accusations that cast aspersions on their integrity.

I think it would still be better for Parly itself and would improve the public's perception of National Parly.
Since if the Speaker is someone completely independent, then people would be less jittery about possible interference from and preference to the Speaker's would-be party since he would be independent, those worries can mostly be put to bed.

Also, I severely doubt the judiciary is under full control of the ANC, otherwise, Zondo wouldn't have happened nor would Zuma be in court cases...

Ok, sure? So both Zille and Sisulu made unfounded accusations?

I think it's going to be opposed from all fronts in parliament.
You think so? It depends on what the bill specifically says. Then we can look at which parties would support it or not. So far, it's only the IFP.

I'm not sure whether it will be vehemently opposed or not. We'll have to wait for more details.

The point is that whoever is not in power will always find faults with the system, I do agree with the idea of a neutral speaker in principle but you can bet your last rand that someone will find fault with it, especially someone from the opposition parties.

I posted the that Zille article to show you that it doesn't matter that the judges on the ConCourt bench are not ANC members, Zille still found a way to accuse them of being in bed with the ANC, same thing will happen with the Speaker.

The former president addressed supporters from his Nkandla homestead in a discussion that was also streamed live on Twitter spaces on Saturday.
Jacob Zuma has accused white people of sowing division within the black community and elevating their spies to positions of power in the ANC.

And once again, the best scapegoat ever is invoked... Sadly, some people will actually believe this.

The guy should rather do the honourable thing for once and stand trial without 90 years worth of petty appeals to stall...

Of course it won't make sense to him, the ANC he knows allows people to steal without any fear of repercussions, it truly must be a foreign ANC to him.

White people are the corrupt/incompetent ANC's Goldstein. A focus. A distraction. The face of their two minutes of hate. SA needs to start pushing back against that.

I think there's a good reason he prefers Nkandla or KZN for such speeches, he feels safe in the knowledge that he is sorrounded by weak minded people.

It's a proxy attack on the president. If he attacked directly the ANC would have to act.
