This will be interesting; wonder who will have a bigger share of the pie, DA or ASA?
In Ward 53?

Well ASA came second place there last year with 15%, DA came fourth with 3%.

I don't see DA making massive gains or losses, perhaps 1 - 2% loss or gain? But most likely stay at 3%.

So it's a complete ASA vs ANC (61% in 2021) battle. If ASA could make big gains there (or via some miracle win the ward), then it could show that they work in both suburbs and townships.

Ahh okay. Didn’t check last years results.

If ASA can take another 15%. That would be huge.

I know this will be a radical idea but deal with the reforms, sign them into law and only have them implemented in 2029? I mean if it isn't signed into law in a week's time, then what's the possibility that it'll be before 2024?

This country wouldn't be able to take an election delay cause it's
  1. unconstitutional
  2. the country won't be able to last longer than 2024 under the ANC gov

Career ruined and life becoming tough, while Zuma lives the good life in Nkandla,

Interesting, but not surprising bit:

Many branches and regional leaders in KwaZulu-Natal, especially those who are supportive of Mkhize’s campaign, contend that whoever was raising their head to challenge Ramaphosa was being persecuted by law enforcement and other state agencies.

Dube said: “There is growing evidence that those who are against Ramaphosa are being prosecuted for corruption and those who are supporting him are protected.”

I'm sure he has moneys stashed. He has at a minimum parts of the 800m he gave his daughter's company. And he did a lot of the Gupta's bidding plus he was clever enough to get his own nest egg going.

True, could be a little cash flow problem, the money must be clean.

DA voters should actually hope that ASA can take votes away from the party and force a renewal and get rid of the baggage in the process.

As has been pointed out by others as well, the DA have their fair share of reps who have become complacent in areas where they win landslides and where they are blindly voted in. They know their jobs are certain and so don't put in a lot of effort. At least ASA's rise can cause these to be gone.

Well, that's all well and good, it doesn't help at all if it just segments the opposition more and leaves the ANC in power?

I personally think there needs to be more GHL or Pappas types in high leadership and get rid of Zille and her loyalists. I honestly don't think JS is bad as a DA leader, but sometimes you can see Zille is pulling the strings BTS. I mean, for example, he was in the front of the battle in 2021 over JHB between DA and ASA, yet recently with the by-election in Pretoria when Zille and her loyalists went crazy, he just congratulated the branch and went on his way, didn't join in on the ASA dogpiling.

DA should also be more open to working with ASA than bickering with them. The same goes for ASA.

In conclusion, the DA should get/keep the likes of GHL, Pappas and JS in high leadership and get rid of Antie Zille.

It necessarily won't do that. We'll have to see what happens with their congress next year.
