Or the opposition alliance is genuinely falling apart, it hasn't really looked like a picture of good health recently.

I am intrigued by the bribery allegations, do we assume it's impossible for those councillors to have had genuine issues about DA Gama? 8 mean if it's so easy to bribe their way through surely the ANC will still be in power in all the metros?

Definitely. Let's hope the coalition can sort this out like with the Williams thing in TSH.

Rumours of bribes flew last time and the ANC have a history of bribing other party councillors. It's possible those councillors voted on conscience but history shows that an unlikely possibility.

How's the coalition in Jhb been crumbling?

Yeah, rumours, history of rumours, we should really learn to take such a history with a pinch of salt.

They were able to convince most opposition parties to unite against the ANC initially, it looks like it's slowly falling apart if the same opposition parties are now uniting with the ANC. It has nothing to do with wishes but everything to do with what anyone can observe, they are not as tight as they used to be.
