Need to make space for Lesufi... I think Lesufi will just make things worse for ANC in GP, lol...
How so? Makhura talked a big corruption fighting game but failed to deliver. Lesufi is a bigger populist and more ANC cadre so he might actually win them some support. Don't think he'll fight entrenched corruption either though. The kind of corruption that got that lady killed is in the ANC DNA. So I expect that'll continue on with placating noises here and there. Lesufi need to lay off his race obsessions though but I fear he'll ramp them up to province and not just schools.

Looks like you guys don't understand how ANC politics work, you don't necessarily have to be better than the other guy to get votes, you can be very useless and still get votes, just look to Zuma and KZN to understand how it works, they jail the lowlife, who deserves it and their support tanks.

Internally with the ANC yeah... From the public, the dynamics are changing and a KFC and shirt possibly aren't enough anymore.

I would like to remind everyone that the President was in Mpumalanga fixing potholes on the day so he has a solid alibi in case Arthur Fraser comes up with some story.

Even with the public it's also not necessarily about doing the right thing, it's more about doing the right thing for those who can see it and giving the impression of doing the right thing for the other group, Soweto as an example, it was the most correct thing to cut off the the leeching lowlifes but what did it result in? Loss of support for the ANC in Gauteng, it's really about balancing all that, perceptions and reality.

Priapus and PrimeSteak were on my case when I said parties are not necessarily voted out because they are doing something wrong, for an example the DA might lose support in Ekurhuleni simply because they stopped the wholesale dishing out of free electricity to everyone, it's really complicated and the one who will get the votes is the one who can master the game, of course not saying doing the right thing won't get you votes but sometimes the right thing is not the popular thing.

So in short you might have your views about Panyaza but they could not necessarily be views that are shared by those who matter, the Gauteng electorate, and after the scramble for urban votes is done and everyone has had his share, the votes that will win the province are going to come from the places that someone like Panyaza is popular in.

Yep, the empty promises, apartheid references, KFC & T-shirt tactics aren't working anymore.

The people are gatvol.
I should think you're smarter than perpetuating that KFC and t shirt narrative popular with this forums right-wingers. The ANC may be bad at governing but they're actually good and election campaigning. And that's not t shirt and KFC as the lazy minded like to believe.

Tag us at least if you want to talk ****. @Priapus

Parties usually lose support because they **** up in some aspect.

Some examples are DA nationally in 2019 under Mmusi's leadership and his shenanigans and ANC for the past decade in most areas because of their sheer corruption, zero service delivery and many other reasons.

Your example makes no sense anyway that DA support in EKH would drop solely because of stopping the electricity free-for-all... It would make more sense if UF made zero progress in their term, for them to then lose support.

For example, you love to refer to Ekhuruleni pre-2021 as ANC's big coalition success, if that was so great, why did ANC support tank further? Just for randomness? In CPT 2011, why did the DA win an outright majority there, after managing a coalition? Just because?

Party support depends on what happens regarding the party itself. COPE is also another example.

ANC is not going to get a majority in Gauteng in 2024 regardless of Lesufi, they've already lost the province (refer to last year). At best they might strike 38 - 40%. So either they'll have to coalesce or sit in the opposition benches (most likely outcome).

People like easy solutions to something they canno lt understand, that's where the KFC and T shirt myth comes from, there's another one where the King or Chief simply commands everyone to vote for the ANC and the masses comply because a Sango a will sniff out those who did not vote for the ANC.

What I was putting under an umbrella term with that is their effective bribery of voters. Food parcels, checkers vouchers, etc...

Also forgot about voter intimidation in the rural areas.
