The Samsung i900 OMNIA Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

I am still pondering the idea of DXIA2 (Taril). I don't want to lose the warranty on my phone. Lets say worst case scenario the usb port on the phone breaks, Samsung would not have to fix it if they see you have a cooked ROM... Probably very unlikely it will though. The other thing is to load DXIA2 you need to flash the ROM twice which increases your chances of bricking the phone (the MONAHANS issue).

I understand your concern Park, but if its any consolation i have flashed my OMNIA roughly 20 times, trying to determine which ROM is best for me,from the official ROM's to most of the cooked ROM out there, and i have never had any problems what so ever.

If you take these steps before flashing it reduces your risks a lot:
1.Reboot PC
2.Use a PC with WinXP prefferably
3.Soft reset your Omnia,Hard reset even better...
4.Make sure ActiveSync 4.5 or later is installed.
5. MAKE SURE THE SAMSUNG MODEM DRIVER IS INSTALLED (IMPORTANT)
6.Limit the amount of apps running on your pc,prefferably turn of antivirus etc.

Well thats the exact steps i took, and like i said i have had no issues of any kind.

Yeah I might just flash it to DXIA2 one of these days. Must say the MONAHANS issue is pretty scary.

Downloading, will try this weekend. At least we do get some proper FW/ GPS updates for Omnia.

I have just done the update, everything seems okay.I have noticed however that the version number is still the same (5.00.20wp) and since the update, the splash screen has been reduced in size, looks very "Symbian" ...lol

Guys for anyone using Manila 2D who doesn't have their hometown in the list of available cities in the weather tab check this out :

Is there something wrong with my Garmin? Everytime when I want to navigate, select destination address it prompt I need more detail maps and please visit Garmin website.

If that does not fix the issue, you can try the following :

1. On your device,go to setting -> connections -> usb connections -> set to mass storage -> storage card
2. Connect your device to your pc.
3. Insert the Garmap CD that came with your omnia.
4. Select "install/repair" the fist option.
5. Follow the instructions.

That wil restore your garmin software.

If it says wrong version just let me know, there is a workaround for that...

;)

@ Park,i know that you are skeptical of updating to cooked ROM,but why don't you perhaps try the latest official Singapore ROM (DXIA5) i doubt you'll loose your warranty,as it is an official ROM...

Just a thought...

I read DXIA5 has increase responsiveness.I'll try and see what other pro's there are

Singapore has a new official ROM out !!!

DXIA5

Saw this ROM for a few days already.

And I had both the Garmin program and latest maps from Samsungblog installed.

PS: I think I overwritten both the img files instead of the big one which I should update. Will use my backup copy to restore tonight and see if it's working.
