Two armed robberies in three days at Kempton Park shopping centre

In both cases, the suspects escaped.

In three days, two Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre stores were robbed at gunpoint, reports Kempton Express.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for the Kempton Park SAPS, confirmed that the video outlet Mr Video was robbed on Saturday evening at around 7.30pm, and clothing store PEP at around 11.40am on Monday morning.

“About four suspects held [Mr Video] staff at gunpoint, before they robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash,” Mtshali said.

Armed robbers flee Mimosa Mall store taking millions in jewellery

In a hit that took less than two minutes, a brazen gang of armed robbers used hammers to smash the counters of HDL Jewellers in a Bloemfontein mall on Thursday morning before making off with the valuable stash in bags.

Mimosa Mall said the gang entered the jewellery store at 09:03:33 and were out by 09:04:57.

Assistants thought the seven men, who wore caps, were customers and asked if they could be of assistance, Free State police spokesperson Constable Wendy Nkabi said.

Four of the men then jumped over the counter, pointed a firearm at employees and demanded that they lie down.

"One suspect among the seven ordered the victims to open the safe. They then started to break the jewellery counter with hammers and took jewellery worth millions," said Nkabi.

Around 14 glass counters were smashed.

A man was injured in a daytime jewellery heist on Umhlanga’s plush Chartwell Drive on Thursday morning.

It is understood that three men entered Anastasia Jewellers‚ one of whom was dressed as a woman.

WATCH: Heavily armed gang steals R170 000 from supermarket

A Pick n Pay supermarket in Sebokeng was robbed of an estimated R170 000 last Saturday. This after several armed men demanded keys to the safe from the manager of the outlet.

In a video doing the rounds on social media the suspect, who is armed with an assault weapon, can be seen waiting for a getaway vehicle in the parking lot of the Thabong Shopping Centre.

Carrying a heavy black bag over his shoulder, the man is seen directing two accomplices struggling with an even heavier bag towards the boot of a white sedan.

Jewellery store offers R50,000 for info leading to arrest of bogus burglar cops

Two men‚ clad in police uniform‚ are believed to have been behind a plot to rob a jewellery store in the I'langa Mall in Nelspruit earlier this week.

According to police‚ the pair walked into the Browns shop around 5.20pm on Monday.

"[They] entered the shop and approached a security guard who was on duty. The guard became suspicious about the duo and suddenly‚ a group of armed men emerged and held the staff at gunpoint.

Robbers bomb jewellery store in Middelburg Mall

An eyewitness said that she heard what sounded like gunshots while talking to a friend.

A second jewellery store in an Mpumalanga mall has been targeted in two days, this time at Middelburg Mall.
An eyewitness, who was close to the jewellery store near to the Woolworths entrance, said that she heard what sounded like gunshots while talking to a friend at around 11.30am, reports Middelburg Observer.
Frightened mall patrons ran inside Truworths for cover. Shortly thereafter was a loud bang as if a bomb went off and smoke filled the air.

UPDATE: Guard injured during Edenvale shopping centre shootout stable

The security guard was allegedly shot in the face but is in a stable condition in hospital.

Bedfordview Edenvale News has received confirmation that a robbery and shoot-out took place earlier this morning at Stoneridge Shopping Centre.
According to Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jean Olckers, the incident took place at around 10am.
“Eight suspects armed with handguns robbed a secondhand dealership in the centre. While attempting to leave the scene, the suspects were spotted by a security guard,” Olckers said.

Man tries to rob Brakpan jewellery store with toy gun

A man was arrested after he allegedly tried to rob a jewellery store at Carnival Shopping Centre with a toy gun, Gauteng police said.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini told News24 that the incident happened on Thursday morning at 08:00 when an employee was opening the store.

He said the man threatened the employee with a toy gun and demanded jewellery.

TAG Heuer watches snatched in East Rand mall robbery

Robbers with a taste for a specific brand of watches robbed Jade Jewellers at East Rand Mall on Monday.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said armed robbers went into the store under the guise of being customers searching for a particular watch.

"The shop assistant went to the display cabinet. The suspect produced a crow bar and smashed the glass cabinet and took only TAG Heuer watches and then fled," police spokesperson Captain Pearl van Staad said in a statement.

WATCH: CCTV footage of brazen robbery at Durban curry restaurant

The Copper Chimney at the Chatsworth Centre, near Durban, was stormed and robbed by four men as the restaurant was closing up on Sunday night, East Coast Radio (ECR) reported.
The men reportedly demanded cash and cellphones from employees.
Mohammed Malik, the duty manager at the time of the attack, reportedly said employees were instructed to lie face-down on the floor for several minutes while the robbers made their getaway.
Malik said he was having trouble sleeping at night following the attack.

Cape Town - The police are in search of two more suspects involved in a business robbery at N1 City Mall in Goodwood, Cape Town.


On Tuesday morning, reports of a store being held up went viral on social media.


The police responded, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old suspect.


"The swift response from members of Goodwood SAPS led to the arrest of a 28 year old suspect for a business robbery," police spokesperson FC van Wyk said.

Gauteng police arrest alleged armed robbers and recover stolen jewellery

Three alleged armed robbers have been arrested and jewellery worth about R40,000 recovered in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Sunday.

Police were searching for the remaining suspects following the arrest of the three, aged 31 to 33, and the recovery of the jewellery at the Diamond Exchange shop in Hillbrow on Friday, Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

The jewellery was stolen during an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in The Glen shopping mall on Thursday last week. The suspects were due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

CT Telkom store robbed by armed men

CAPE TOWN - The Telkom shop at Parow Centre was robbed by six men who only stole cell phones on Wednesday.
Six unidentified men entered the shop and ordered the workers at gunpoint to lay on the floor.
One of the cashiers was ordered to open the container cage where the suspects then took the cellphones and petty cash.
An undisclosed number of Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung J6 cell phones were stolen.
The men were travelling by a minibus taxi, however, police have since recovered the phones and the vehicle.

4 suspects arrested, another hospitalised after attempted robbery at CT mall

CAPE TOWN - Four suspects have been arrested while a fifth man has been hospitalised following an attempted robbery at a shopping mall in Philippi East.
Police say six men entered a gambling place at the mall pretending to work there on Friday.
Later, they are believed to have attempted to rob the place but security and police were on scene.
A security guard was injured in the shoulder when shots were fired.
The suspects then tried to flee, but police managed to apprehend four of them on scene.

KZN jewellery heist pulled off 'within minutes'

A heist at a jewellery store at Galleria Mall, south of Durban, took just minutes - as three armed suspects made off with a sterling loot of undisclosed value on Wednesday.

Mall management confirmed to TimesLIVE that Natal Wholesale Jewellers (NWJ) was victim of a business robbery.

Galleria general manager Kurt Hoggan said no one was harmed during the incident.

Second KZN mall heist in 24 hours

Police are investigating another case of business robbery after three armed suspects held up staff at a cellphone chain store at Montclair Mall in Durban on Thursday.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele the incident occurred shortly after 11am.

"Employees at a business premises in Montclair were allegedly accosted by three unknown armed males, who robbed them of a number of cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash. They then fled and no shots were fired."

3 caught after shootout following attempted heist at Eastgate Mall

A high-speed chase and shootout between police and alleged would-be robbers on Friday ended in the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Gauteng parking lot where three suspects were arrested and two unlicensed guns were recovered.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said members of its Flying Squad spotted a Ford Fiesta in Bedfordview which was flagged as being involved in a botched robbery at the mall.

The suspects had driven off after security guards had thwarted their attempt to hold up a shop, he explained.

Officers chased after the car after spotting it on Van Buuren Road and gave chase. A shootout ensued.
