The Shroom Thread

funnily enough I am very liberal with the use of natural hallucinogens , but friends (who are even more liberal) have warned me about Salvia and GHB. They reckon DMT , ayavuska all that jazz is cool.
I don't think it's fair to compare Salvia to GHB. GHB is addictive, neurotoxic, and can cause death upon overdoses. Nor is it considered a hallucinogen.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure if a high enough dose of Salva is taken it will feel like you have died and might be the most terrifying experience of your life, but you will be back in about 15 minutes or so :). Again, it's all about the dose you take and what ROA.

Yes, very true that an extract would probably be necessary for a strong breakthrough.

I have only smoked low doses of plain leaves through a bong and must agree that the spatial effect was stronger than the visual. Once my plants grow to a good size I will start to quid the leaves which is said to be more beneficial and less hectic than smoking :).

Cape Town

Hi there. Also from Cape Town. Do you mind going into your growing environment, I understood them to love humidity, are you able to grow them outside or do you have an indoor grow?

Yep, they do like humidity but can be acclimatized to grow without a dome or anything. That's how I grow mine, my plant just sits near a windowsill. They don't like a lot of sun, so no more than 2-3 hrs a day. Quite hardy and grow quite fast.. I have made three small cuttings now since receiving my plant 2 months ago. They also don't produce seeds often and if they do they have a very low germination rate, so the only way to grow more plants is by cuttings. Thankfully S. Divinorum roots very easily within 10 days in a glass of water. From what I have read (although I have not experienced it), the biggest danger is root rot, so you must be careful not to overwater and should probably use quite loose soil.

Okay will add it to the list then thanks.

Sweet, copped me some peroxide but I thought it kills mycelium ? I wanna to try it because I too bought something super potent and want to keep the strain.

Hydrogen peroxide will slow down the growth of mycelium, but won't kill it. It will kill spores and bacteria.

You use a hydrogen peroxide solution to kill competitors of the mycelium.

Read a tek about how to do this, but generally you would dilute the hydrogen peroxide prior to using it.

Hey guys I made this subreddit for people that want to trade/discuss entheogenic plants in SA.

Just a reminder that growing shrooms is kinda easy, especially with something like pf-tek. Yeah, it's not gonna give you massive yields, but it's an easy way to try it out with a reasonably low chance of failure. Especially if you make a few jars. Local availability of spore prints = give it a try.

Got some containers of rye grain mixed with rehydrated manure pellets going right now.

Frustratingly, germination is poor. Only 4 out of 10 germinated.

Growing Golden Teacher and Pan Cyans. Never got Pan Cyans to even germinate before, so I'm quite excited that I have 3 containers with live Pan Cyan mycelium in them.

Where do you get your substrate materials from, I've only tried popcorn, brown rice and bird seed so far? The manure sounds quite promising. I also have a couple of bags of fine saw dust from hardwoods but it is the slowest germination rate so far. Have four small totes with GT's about to hit fruiting stage, first grow so far so quite excited. Next batch is Natal Super Strength and Blue Meanie currently colonizing. Good luck with your Pan Cyans I heard they pack a punch over the cubes.

What what are the returns vs cost on growing your own?

If you do four or more of these it's a nice amount. Biggest cost is the spore prints. The brown rice flour & vermiculite aren't even R100. Yeah, maybe buy some nice jars with a nicely shaped opening so that the cakes come out easily when you pop them into a humid box. And it's also really fun and interesting watching the mycelium network forming in the jar and then fruiting like this. They come up really quick at one point. You kinda wake up and hey! Oh shit....I've got shrooms!

I buy organic rye grain from Amazon. The horse manure pellets I got from a spore vendor in the UK.

Funnily enough, I haven't had any germination (this time around) for containers that contain rye only. Containers that contain a mixture of rye and manure have had a much higher germination rate, and I'm not sure why.

Congratulations on the first fruiting! It's pretty exciting when you get that far.

I completely agree with this. I was shocked when I saw how much some people are paying for shrooms in some of these online shops. Isn’t it like R1000 for 10g?? You could spend R300 and yield like 100g dry if you luck out on genes. Also I think from reading the teks on shroomery going from PF cakes to bulk is super easy and can actually yield a lot.

As a disclaimer though this is just going by what I have read from shroomery. Currently collecting materials for my first grow :)

This is the tek I’ll be following: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24981864/fpart/all/vc/1

Just came back from a wedding. Mushrooms were being eaten by the hand full - literally! Tried it for the first time and because of the party vibe I can't be sure how much I had but I was relatively conservative. Had an amazing time, music was indescribably good but man, I feel shitty now. I think it was DMT.

Hideous hangover, so hungry but will be sick if I eat, tired but can't fall asleep.

Maybe the vast quantity of vodka I had?

Next time I'm not drinking
