The Sony X1 Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

im in pretoria. its the silver case... originally vodafone. now unbranded WM 6.5 valkyrie

Greetings all X1 users - happy 2010!
Total noob here - I'm still stuck with about a year on contract with V'com, so I'd like to know - from those of you who are still on X1 -what's the 'best' current quick and clean ROM to have on board. Last year I spent countless hours combing this forum (and others), I've downloaded the advice and tutorials to learn how to flash, hard spl etc., so I'm now going to take the plunge and give it a go. Also, any advice on which is the 'best' sytem for sync'ing so that I can backup the lot before I go ahead. Thanks in advance.

Me again. Last night I downloaded the x1_firestorm_v5.4.28014LEO.7z after seeing a fair amount of thumbs up for it from forum users...

The firestorm roms are pretty good. You could also try Itje touch it roms on the htcpedia.com site ( it supports landscape) and Energy roms are also good on xda-developers.com

i guess nobody messing with the x1 anymore or everybody just got rid it????
anyways, anyone interested in android i see they got a dedicated section on xda

For few months i been using firestorm 4.8 and last nite i upgraded to the new Energy ROM. i have been loving my X1 until 2 months ago when I started having keyboard problems. when i type, certain keys are repeated more than once. it seems to be a common hardware problem.

When i sent mine in to have the cracks sorted out i mentioned the keyboard problems...was sorted out under warranty :)

i hardly use the kb

how u finding the energy rom?

Energy ROM is kewl! I'm impressed with the speed, features and mostly importantly, the battery usage. I last charged my phone yesterday afternoon. Its constantly on WiFi, occasional facebook status updates, I used GPS for 30mins. Last nite I slept with batt at 59%, this morning it was 51% and this evening its 30%. So far I'm happy with this ROM. BTW, I'm using Energy.XPERIA.23566.Sense2.5.GTX.Themed.May.01

Hey all

I see forum is still chugging along
I finally have given up on my X1..
Came back from a warranty repair and is worse than ever... freezing at-least 10 a day :(
It has been fun though.... Was in Oct 2008 that I bought my Xperia for 899 Pounds.....
Today I have with me an HTC Desire.... This baby only cost R8000 Last week from Lab88 @ Cedar Square and damn is it fast!!!
Guess I am just another WM user who has been converted to Android.... Like many other WM/Xperia users..
Will wait till WM 7 before I bring out the cheque book again..
Happy "Xperiancing"

Just got my HTC Desire today and I am blown away. Android UI is simply awesome. The phone and Android OS are simply amazing.

I have been very happy with my Sony X1 until the keyboard problem started. I’m hoping to claim damage through my insurance and I will still keep it as my second phone.
