The Super PSP Thread

Okay, I downloaded one of those big custom theme packs today about 31MB, seeing as I had to go in to work to install MS CRM, as soon as I got home, I replaced my top level icons, battery icon, startup sound, background theme, and the xmb background (the lines that move on your theme without a background image) with the 'nike' custom xmb background and I changed the font to the Vista Callibri font. Let me tell you, my psp is so freeking sexy right now that I could hump it.

It was rather very easy to do it as well. I did however make a backup of my vsh folder and the font folder. I can't wait to go show it off to the oke at work, he'll be very jealous.

Now here is hoping that they make better looking volume bars. I would love to make my own icons, but the icon maker they included in the pack doesn't want to run. Hopefully they will make propper install packages for these little applications they write, that includes all the files ect. I am way too lazy to put the files in the propper places and register dll's.... it's hard work doing the regsvr32 thing. :D

just use photoshop cs2..I do but what a task to make my own icon,I sit for like a hour to do one i like.and still i am not happy. So i just put black icons on.cool effect withthe black double waves

I know what you mean dude. I spent about 2, almost 3 hours yesterday creating a background for my PSP. Also, all those custom images for my playstation games, that takes forever! It's hard work, but it's fun. We need a space to up our creative works.

From what I understand, you need to go into recovery mode, and downgrade back to 1.5, then upgrade back up to 3.03 OE-C. I'm trying to find a propper article about it now, but so far that is all I was able to dig up.

Also check this out, I though it was quite cute, this is from the sig of a poster from another forum.

Okay, according to gunntims0103 over at dcemu, this is what you have to do to get back to 1.5:

Well iv been seeing around that there are quite a few people updating there psp's to the custom firmware that Dark_Alex has provided us with. Many don't understand the recovery menu that well, nor do they know how to downgrade back to 1.5 via the recovery menu.

-Why is this pack important?

As soon as you update to the custom firmware its always a good idea to have the recovery files on your memory stick just in case anything were to happen that would intern brick your psp.

-How to go back to 1.5 via custom firmware!

1.download the recovery pack
2.extract the content in the recovery pack onto the computer
3.place the "RECOVERY" folder into the game folder of your psp
4.obtain the 1.5 eboot. Rename it "UPDATE.pbp" and place it into the "RECOVERY" folder.
5.Go to the recovery menu on your psp by turning off your psp. Then hold the R trigger and thus turn on your psp and you will be at the recovery menu. It should look like a purple screen.
6.Go to the option "Run program as /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP
7.hit X and the process of the downgrade will begin.

Hope this helps!

cool but why not make your own recovery folder.just makr a folder and put the 1.5 eboot in.I dont see the diff.
its klike updating a firmware execept changing the format and folder

i just ran 3.03 OE-C installer again from 3.10 OE-A2. the same installer you use from 1.5.
works like a charm.
reason i downgraded was so I could customize my psp. Icons, font and wave effect are all now custom, looks really cool.
how do I take a screenshot? i have been looking for a program all night!!

Kevin, there is a nice little plugin that you can use to take screen captures, as well as gif images, that captures frames of what is happening. I have used it, and it is still loaded on my PSP. Tis brilliant. It even comes with a viewer so you can view the snaps and gifs.

You can download that here:

Windows and Linux on the PSP? Yup, you can actually run the two on the PSP. It uses windows 95 though, and some sort of linux, however, there is no keyboard support in the linux version. Windows 95 uses the virtual keyboard.

See it here:

Also, please point me in the direction of those custom icons that you are using. They look so sexy.
