The Super PSP Thread

Will let you know about that router once my new one comes in. I'm not the only one using it. :p

I unbricked my psp. A bit too lengthy of a process for my tastes though.
Well, at least my psp is up and running again and so are the problems...

The config menu was working fine after the unbrick. Now, it just goes to a blue screen and shuts down.
More research to do.....

Hey guys,

It's been a while for me, and I have been out of the loop now for quite a while. I have seen the new Custom Firmware that is available the M33 ones by DA and his team. I just wanted to find out, which is the best version to use that won't screw me around too much. I'm still on 3.40 OE-A, and I'm still loving it.

I've tried to get in dept info on the firmwares, so if you have the info please post it here. I don't really want to upgrade but if I want to play the latest games I guess I have to.

Shot guys!

Take from a guys who's been down the hole and came back out. Stick with 3.40 OE.

M33 might be viable in the near future but as it stands at the moment, it's flimsy and will give you a plethora of hassles.

Hey ZeroSplice,

Thanks for advice. I was thinking that it was still too much in it's infancy. What's all the probs that you have had?

Well, these comments are completely subjective. To get the actual facts you may need to do some research. They may or may not differ from my experiences.

- less compatibility with games
- random errors during gameplay
- quite a process to downgrade. Flop up and you get a free brick

Generally it's feels very unstable and there's always that concern that it shouldn't crash in game, etc.
For peace of mind, stick with 3.40 OE.

You okes sure about that m33?

I'm tempted to go up cos DJ Max2 still plays with flaws on 3.40OE. Any major cons to it. Downgradibilty, compatibility, etc.

@dabla - Can't guarantee the router for you. Telkom techies are coming over today to verify the problem. If the router's not at fault, we might consider selling it since I ordered a netgear.

Just upgraded to 3.52 M33 and then upped it to 3.52 M33-4. Now I just need to insert a game and a few others and test it. Will let you know if I have hassles.

whats it like?
ill wait for the full version.
Well, pretty damn good so far. The demo drops you in the middle of the action, gives you two quick boss fights linked by some cannon-fodder to kill while you're admiring the scenery and lets you use the first of Kratos' powers.

I'd also have waited instead of playing the demo, but its only due for release in March 2008 if i remember correctly.

Okay, I have done it... I have taken the plunge and installed 3.71 M33-2. I'm not going to bother with the 1.50 Addon now though, as it has been a while since I ran homebrew on my PSP.

So far so good, it seems to be working perfectly, no issues, and of course I will be running it hard over the next few days. I must say, Sony is on the right track with the PSP's XMB, now only if they could make it so that you can keep listening to music while entering all the other menus. So far I see that you can play your music and look at your pictures at the same time, which is cool I guess, if you are that way inclined. Dunno why you would want to do that, unless it is only for effect when you want to show off all your latest photo's of something or someone to your mates or fambly.

I do love the new custom theme option that the new firmware comes with. I just wish that they'll add more eyecandy esque setting like this to the PSP, as well as more visualizations for the music player.

Anyway,
Ciao for now.
