The Super PSP Thread

the coders on thats forum gives us beta homebrew to test,I have not reported about any bugs so far as i still never got a psp,Anyway i had a look at a couple and all of them were ta 082 models.I really dont need that model.I am basically looking for one made in 2005.This is so hard to find

I just cant buy any one,i need a 1001 psp.Original 1.5 firmware one,Reason being this has original registry settings and believe me it can never brick to a full brick, even if you have pandora and unbrick it,your psp will never be the same again,It will always have a problem sometimes. So i wanna buy a 1001 psps model,so i can have a frsh registry and id storage is perfect.

remember those 2 that got stolen.Well the one i bought after that had to many faults and it was a ta 082 model one so i gave it back. And spend the money on a hdd..lol
Well i am still loooking now for that perfect one.

PSP Slim & Light

My sisters boyfriend recently purchased a PSP Slim & Lite for himself, and I had a chance of playing with the little gadget. I must say, I am a little disappointed with the device, not with how it works, but with how it looks. Yes it is very light and a little bit smaller, however the build quality of it seems a little lacking. First thing that you will notice is the case of the little hand held. It's not as super smooth as it's big brother, it actually looks very plastic and the surface looks uneven. It basically looks like a cheap knock-off of the PSP.

The slot into which you insert your memory stick now pulls up and out and has two long white-ish rubber pieces connecting it, it doesn't look very good. The UMD now doesn't have the nice spring action where you use the slide button to open it, you now need to open it by pushing it open with your finger. The battery though is easier to insert and remove unlike with the Fat PSP where you had to struggle a bit. The buttons seem to be a bit more responsive and the square button is no longer raised, but is now aligned the same as all the other buttons. The analogue stick has a bit more grip as well, and the shoulder buttons aren't as tight.

As for functionality, everything remains the same, it still does everything that it's big brother does, and then it has it's video out which could be confused for the extra part of the headphone jack where the PSP headphones used to plug into, giving you control of the PSP's music controls via the remote of the PSP headphones.

It is rather disappointing looks wise, as I did place it next to my PSP, and my PSP won the good looks contest. I must confess as well, that I love the nice and heavy feel of the Big brother PSP, it feels like I have a kick-ass piece of hardware in my hands, rather than a fun little toy. Now if only there was a way to make my PSP do the video out without any serious soldering or effort :)

Just my 5cents, use it don't use it :)

PSP Modding

Is there anyone in SA that does PSP modding using the tuts and diagrams from the AcidMods guys? I would looooove to PIMP my PSP.

dabel, my psp is an old one. i bought it about a year ago 2nd hand. maybe its one of the first batches. how do I find out?

slicknick, what mods do you want to do on your psp?

I would love the LED mod, where the shoulder buttons are lit up, and then they must also flash to the music. Also, I want a new faceplate for my PSP. Preferably a white one.

yea, that would be cool. best option I think is to go to an electronics store. and speak to someone who is very experienced in that sort of thing. im sure it would be an easy project for them.

regarding the faceplate, thats easy, www.decalgirl.com
it shouldnt cost you more than about R250 for a brand new faceplate which comes with new buttons and the front screen. they have various colours and designs.

3.40 Wildcard is nonsense as well.

I'm using DJ Max 2 and Tales of the world as my personal choice for an acid test. Run those 2 games without a hitch and that's the firmware I'll be using.
So far only 3.40 OE A plays the tune.
I've tested;
3.71 m332
3.52 m334
3.40*

I will mod it for you,all you have to do is give me the materials like the led's etc..
Also @kevin,so you wanna sell it
check under the psp you will see a sticker there saying 1001.If its not there check on the box it came with and you will see a sticker on that to,just check for 1001.

i would love to help you out, but i dont really want to sell it. its not that I use it alot, but its nice to know its there when I want a quick game of something.
