The Super PSP Thread

memory fake cards, damn that use to be a problem like a year ago, today we dont really get those problems.
remember runin at 333 speed sometimes cause problems, battery life wifi chokes bad loads...lol

I'm new to this so please excuse my ignorance. :)

Is it safe to upgrade my slim psp to custom firmware 3.80 m33? What are the chances of it getting permanently (unrecoverably) bricked? Is upgrading worth the risk (if any?) ?

Is there anyone/anywhere in JHB that will upgrade my psp to homebrew 3.80 m33?

Best regards;)

Nope, I think fakes are still out there and in vast circulation. I bought 3 memory cards from 3 different suppliers and all were fakes. The suppliers didn't even know they were fakes.

3.80 m33-5

It’s time to update those hand helds. Dark_AleX has just released 3.80 M33-5. You know what to do. Enjoy!

3.80 M33-5 changes:

[*]Fixed custom CPU clock not working in games

[*]CPU clock has never (in any SE/OE/M33) be set at all in games that restarted using sceKernelLoadExec to use a subgame or reload themselves, after said restart happened (e.g. Castlevania). Fixed.

[*]Added setting to recovery to hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in the XMB game menu. By default off, when on you will probably notice a faster browse in XMB games. This setting only applies to any kind of apps/games (pbp, iso) that load from MS, but not to UMD’s.

Anyone know where I can get a Datel tool battery or a psp slim battery (hardmodded) locally?

Just got my Slim PSP and want to upgrade the firmware, downloaded totalnewbie installer etc. just need the pandora battery.

Anyone that will sell/borrow me their pandora battery for PSP slim?:)

and where can I get a memory stick at a good price?

Despertar del Cementerio V4 released!!

Changes in version 4
-----------------------

- Installer now checks if user has a custom theme installed, and ask him to disable it before running the program.
- the PSN DRM file in flash2 (act.dat) is now backuped during ms creation and restored in the unbrick.
- flash2 is now formatted too.
- Now installs 3.80 M33-5 instead of 3.71 M33-3.

---

Installation:

- If you have already a pandora ms, don't do this part. Otherwise,
format an ms using c+d mspformat or any other tool that allows to move
partition to ~250kb from first sector

Remove ms, usb and connect again usb and ms.
Make PSP and PSP/GAME dirs.

- Copy despertar_cementerio to PSP/GAME/

- Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.80 update eboots and copy them to ms root with
150.PBP, 340.PBP and 380.PBP names.

- If you have a PTF custom theme set, quit it before running the program.

- Use the app under a cfw with 2.x or 3.x kernel (be sure that kernel is
selected on recovery to the correct one (2.x or 3.x))

- Once finished, u will have msipl.bin on root. If you already have a pandora
ms, you don't have to do this step (ipl doesn't changes lol), otherwise,
use c+d msinst to install ipl on ms; or use dd command from unix, or any
hex-edit program to write on sector 16 on the physical drive.

- Now you can delete 340 and 150 PBP's, as they won't be used more; but 380.PBP
will be used for unbricker, so don't delete it.

- Now you have an universal pandora ms ready to go, and you just need a proper
battery. If you have 1.50 kernel access, use c+d tool. Otherwise, use corly149 tool.

Battery and ms will work on all psp and slims to this date.

Unbricking:

- Press X to install 3.80M33.

- Press O to install original 3.80

- Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.

- Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin

This proccess is very dangerous, and you should *just* use it if it's your
last chance to get it working.

This is a physical restore process (not a logical one), and will try to make
a 100% exact clon of the dump.

If you are working with a dump that isn't yours, you will get either a brick
or a corrupt idstorage, depending on the firmware.

If while you are restoring your psp have got any damaged block more than
when you dumped it, you might also get a brick, depending on what block is it.

Works for both PSP and PSP Slim.

----

Note: If you are gonna use the memory stick to restore a psp other than the one that created it,
check if the file /registry/act.dat exists in the ms. If it exists, remove it, otherwise the restored psp may not be able
to buy psn games until the user doesn't delete from flash2 the act.dat of the other psp. (act.dat files are unique for each psp).

Note that act.dat will be restored to the moment of the MS creation.
If you have bought other PSN game later, the act.dat file may have changed and if you restore the old one, you may loose the latest bought game.
Backup flash2:/act.dat each time after you buy something from the PSN!

Remember the ZX Spectrum?

I have recently discovered that you can download old ZX Spectrum games from www.worldofspectrum.org. From what I can see, it looks completely legal. So I done some looking around on PSP-Hacks and have found there are ZX emulators out there for the PSP. Problem is I cannot get any of them to work. I have found 3 versions of PsPectrum by HexDump.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/79 (v01)
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/450 (v02)
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/554 (v104)

I can only get v02 to start up, but cant load the roms because they are incompatible. The roms I downloaded are in tzx and tap format, but the app calls for z80 and sna. Has anyone attempted to get this working on the PSP? There is a newer version, v104, but I cant get it to run. I am hoping it will read the roms I got. Part of the instructions or download seem to be missing something, so I cant figure out exactly what directories I need to create and what files to put in which folder. Incase it makes a difference, I am running 3.52 M33-4. I am facing an extended period on my back recovering from surgery in the near future, so I am trying to load as much stuff onto my memory sticks as possible. As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

MyADSL and PSP?

Anyone know why the mybroadband site cannot be viewed on a psp? Page title appears but thats about it. Mods, admins... any ideas? Maybe an adjustment can be made to make it viewable

this forum is just a pre-scripted theme available to anyone to put on a website.

not much can be changed when it comes to the coding.

I would suggest getting a laptop :P

just got a stuck red pixel on my 1-day old slim psp, should I return it or do these things sort themselves out on their own? anyone had a similar experience?

i'm reluctant to return it for a new one as I just had it upgraded to custom firmware yesterday and don't have cash for another upgrade.:(

Stuck pixels rarely go away, return it if it bothers you. How much did you pay for the CFW?

R250, should I get it back to OFW before returning?

do you think they'll even take it back for just 1 stuck pixel? it's noticeable on a dark background, very annoying.
