The Super PSP Thread

you see i got a K@K one since my one got stolen, this new one will never be the same as my one i got in 2005.
I really need a 1001 psp,I will sell this one.
I see my psp crashes even when i went back to 1.5,i am trying to figure out why its doing this, and my money is on the hardware itself,I am sure this was a problem from the first owner.

when does it freeze? randomly or at certain times?
have you tried another memory card?

i must say i sometimes had problems with the earlier OE firmwares, but my psp seems to be getting more and more stable with higher firmwares.

hey guys, i'm thinking of buying another psp slim but the last one I had had a stuck pixel and I'm not entirely keen on risking getting another psp with stuck/dead pixel(s).

generally, if I buy a PSP and don't notice any stuck/dead pixels within the first week, does that mean I will never get any stuck/dead pixels? is it possible to have a PERFECT psp slim screen?

are stuck pixels just a manufacturing defect rendering a pixel "likely to fail"? i noticed my stuck pixel after watching a video on my PSP.

basically, is it worth the risk?

I've modded a few slims and none had dead pixels. And, trust me, some of them have been through the mill.

iR Shell 3.9 Released

All good things must come to an end… Ahman, developer of iR Shell — probably the best homebrew to ever exist for the PSP — has waved goodbye leaving behind one final release.

iR Shell is literally packed with a remarkable feature set for both Slim and Fat models — listen to MP3’s while in-game, multi-task between UMD/ISO/homebrew and any of iR Shell’s built-in functions, enjoy 2 player PSOne games wirelessly with another PSP, etc… The fun never stops!

New iR Shell 3.9 features:

* Added support for 3.80M33-2, M33-4 & M33-5. Pls note M33-1 & M33-3 are not supported due to some technical issues which I’m lazy to resolve.
* Added support for 3.80 Popsloader Version 2. Version 1 isn’t supported.
* The 1.5 Kernel Addon for 3.71M33 & 3.80M33 has caused some incompatibility issues with fw 1.5 iR Shell. This is now resolved.
* Enhance PSP ISO compatability. Previously failed ISOs will probably work in this release.
* For slim only, the nethostfs MAX mode is now compatible with WPA.
* Some older firmware supports have been removed to reduce the distribution archive. This version has support for fw 1.5, 3.10 to 3.80. Also, directories EXTAPP15 & EXTAPP3X have been combined into a single EXTAPP to save space. Each APP# directory has 2 EBOOTs, with EBOOT.PBP for fw 3.x and EBOOT15.PBP for fw 1.5.

hi guys,it is the hardware,I checked and opened it up,It looks likes spit was in there as there is water marks on the motherboard,Damn second hand..
well its only gonna last for untill corrosion sets in,and that can be well 8 months maybe

I heard a rumour that if you downgrade/crack your PSP, you will not be able to play any games online then.... is this true cos online is half the fun of gaming imo.

You can play some of the games even it's on a mod PSP, like battle zone and some other golf game. I haven't tried them yet.

not true.

there is no way of a online server to know wether you are using a copy/hacked firmware etc.

its not like a pc game where you need a serial, or with big games consoles where it does online verification.

sorry to hear that man. can you not clean it with alcohol or something to stop it from corroding?

just clean the psp, use anti corrosion cleaner (no idea what or where, you will have to ask an electronics store) then hopefully it wont get worse, and perhaps even be fixed.

Guys, my kidos psp is on 303oec firmware, bit outdated. Now i bought a new game (starwars battlefront) and it wont play. I assume because of oldfirmware (and the disc comes with 352 firmware). Error message when try to play "game could not be started"

OK, i'm not going to do the official firmware thing. So can i jump from my current 303oec firmware to the latest, whatever it is. And which firmware do you recommend i jump to?
