PSP 3000 officially announced

Sony has just officially announced the PSP 3000 at their press conference event at Leipzig. According to David Reeves, the PSP 3000 will have a built-in microphone, and an enhanced LCD screen. It will retain the size and features of the current, slimmed-down PSP (PSP-2000).

- The LCD screen will have a wider color gamut and higher contrast ratio to deliver deeper, more vibrant colors, as well as anti-reflection technology so you can see the screen more clearly when playing outdoors. As you all know, the PSP’s screen is a key strength of the hardware, and this update adds an absolutely dazzling LCD screen to the handheld.

- A built-in microphone allows for Skype calls and multi-player gaming communication directly from the hardware - eliminating the need for attaching a separate headset.

About R1200 or so depending on the accessories, games etc. As for homebrew on the 3000, we'll just have to wait and see...

So how much should a second hand psp cost with a 1GB mem card and MX. vs ATV?

Hi guys hope the psp gurus here can help.

My son's psp has stopped reading the memory card. I initially thought it was the card but it does the same with any card. It tries to access the card when you boot up but then the orange light just flashes regularly, and if trying to format / access the card i get the error message "please insert memory card". I presume its a hardware issue with the card reader itself. The "good" news is its only about 8 months old so still under guarantee, the "bad" is that it has 3.71m33 firmware so i presume if we return it to sony as is they will not honor the guarantee. I initially though could do a network firmware upgrade to a legitimate firmware but the psp need a memory stick in order to download the firmware. The latest firmware we had on a umd is 3.40 so if i try load that i get a error message no need to upgrade firmware as current is newer that 3.40 blah blah.

So my questions are 1) if we manage to get a original firmware onto the psp will sony honor the guarantee? 2)Is their anyway to force the psp to load the 3.40 firmware. 3) If no to the 3.40 firmware does anyone in Durban have a UMD with firmware >3.71 that i could borrow to load the firmware. 4) Any other options??

Can you access the card via USB in the recovery menu? (Hold down R trigger while switching on)

You could install the original firmware, or, just go to the retailer that you bought it from. They usually aren't able to tell the difference between a modded psp and a normal one.

You could install the original firmware

But how because when i try the psp refuses because it sees the 3.40 firmware as older than the current 3.71 firmware and refuses to "downgrade"

or, just go to the retailer that you bought it from. They usually aren't able to tell the difference between a modded psp and a normal one.

Surely the retailer will just pass it onto Sony SA, or whomever their agents are and they will dispute the guarantee?

Hi, I'm looking at selling my PSP1000, I want to get a PSP3000. How much could I expect to sell it for, it's in a good condition has one game, a 1GB memory card and a 8GB memory card?

Thanks
