The Syrian Conflict Thread

Not only Syria, but hopefully the world. It again shows the successes that can be achieved if you really want to. Putin came in and kicked a$$. Obama is dilly dallying because Assad is his main goal, not ISIS.

ISIS is the red herring that allows the US to bomb Assad, just as 911 was the red herring to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. The above pics clearly show US officials are in cahoots with ISIS.

No ways, they would never do that, right?!

As far as I know, the US hasn't been bombing Assads forces. It's been bombing IS and Al Q, who are, according to you, their allies. Which obviously makes no sense.

You seem awfully quiet about Turkey though... seeing as though they are clearly not interested in fighting IS as much as helping them, having intentionally allowed so many foreign IS operatives to cross their borders into Syria, bombed the sht out of the PKK instead of IS under the pretense of fighting IS, impeded Kurdish fighters from crossing the border when their people were under siege by IS, and up until about a month ago they refused fellow NATO members requests to use their airstrips to conduct airstrikes against IS.

Why are you so quiet?

Why don't you share your bomb report that shows USA is bombing Assad's forces?

I didn't say that. I said the US is supporting, training and arming rebel groups (won't be surprised if it's ISIS) in Syria to overthrow Assad. That's why Obama was so pi$ed off when Putin bombed such a training camp., and in the process indirectly admitting the existence of such training camps. The US terrorists, in retaliation, then used their WMD to bomb a hospital.

To provide such training, the US must have an excuse to be there and that excuse is ISIS.

Putin achieved in a short period what the US couldn't do in months of "bombing" ISIS.

Stop nitpicking. The generally accepted definition of WMD is a nuclear, biological or chemical weapon that causes significant death and damage. Anything other than that is an attempt to move the goalposts to make you not look wrong, which nobody here has time for.
No, this is just the definition the United States has started using since they tried to launch a propaganda campaign to target Saddam Hussein.

The original weapons of mass destruction were only nuclear weapons because they are the only weapons that indeed do massive destruction to the environment. Chemical or biological weapons do not destroy entire cities, they just kill people.

None of this is a secret, the USA has openly admitted it provides training and arms to rebels. What exactly has Putin achieved?

With a total of 5 people left from that training and arms going to Al Qaeda. At least now they're going into arming Kurds. But that puts them at odds with Turkey which is a key US ally.

They should just stop arming everyone and leave it alone, Assad is the probably the best "bad guy" for Syria.

Assad's quite sensible. He is willing to have a referendum to decide who will rule. It's good Obama did not follow the Neocon fire eaters on this one. Hopefully they'll co-operate with the Russians.

Note that much of the "moderate" opposition wants an Islamist government.

I doubt that would be free and fair

In an ideal world Russia shouldn't be getting involved either but i suppose its become tit for tat. In this scenario they should co-operate but they have opposite goals so it probably wont really happen.

Our own resident MyBB saint claims it's not muslims supporting and funding ISIS.

If you remove the blinkers and prejudices, you'll recall that I admitted some radicals commit atrocities in the name of Islam. In any religion you get these fanatics, but unfortunately the one-eyed media only focuses on Islam to brainwash the simpletons who don't want to make an effort to study Islam and instead rely on snippets from anti Islamic websites.
