The Syrian Conflict Thread

]I don't take issue because I can see you don't understand Islam. You'll quote a few verses from the Qur'an to prove your point. But what you don't understand is the context when those verses were released[/B]. Some of the perceived "violent" verses were revealed during times of war. Some verses were also later abrogated (lifted / removed) for eg slavery was first acceptable but later as Islam spread, it was considered a sin. Today, when you want to redeem yourself of a certain sin, one option is to free a slave. You'll need to study Islam with an open mind and heart and not extract selective verses after being indoctrinated by western propaganda and anti-Islamic websites. Take the effort to discuss Islam with a knowledgable person and your eyes and heart will open to the real truth.

Looking at the Muslim extremists and in particular ISIS and the support they invoke internationally I believe many if not the majority of Muslims do not understand the context or the teachings of their own religion.

A few half hearted words due to international pressure does not fix the fact that they are ages behind in curbing the terror in their name. Sad is it not.

Do you claim to have heard each and every condemnation from Muslim organizations, clerics and governments to come to the "half hearted words" conclusion. What do you suggest should be done by the Muslim community to curb the violence by IS and Boko Haram?

What is the % support for ISIS from the world Muslim community and what is your source?

Stop supporting them. Freeze their accounts. Ban their traveling. A lot can be done if the were since.re

What should the other 99% Muslims do that abhor the atrocities committed in the name of Islam. I'm not supporting ISIS, I can't freeze their accounts or stop them from traveling. That is a function from governments. It's also not that easy as IS don't operate bank accounts and don't apply for visas or passports before invading a country. It's more complex than that.

Any excuse would do won't it? Inaction by Islamists when they could have taken action allowed this evil to spread. Now it up to the west and east to solve the problems.

Not answering my question. I also don't think you're able to because your claim was made on perceptions created by western media.

Is ISIS a fictitious body created by western media? Remove you blinkers.

You obviously don't have the answer and bombing a country to smithereens with WMD is also not the answer. In fact, it's making things worse. If my family was destroyed by a US "oops" bomb, I'll join the rebels to take up the fight against the killers of my family. Won't you?

There we go ! Now I understand your logic clearly! This is exactly what strengthens ISIS and what they rely on. Therefore their success in canvassing more participants.

No, they are a real body created by a hidden hand as an excuse to bomb Syria. Something similar like 911 to have an excuse to get rid of Saddam and the Taliban. Modus operandi is the same.

Well done. Now that your understanding has been broadened, wouldn't you agree to remove the force that strengthens the support for ISIS, namely US occupation of Syria? That way they'll lose all support, following your logic.

What about Russia's "occupation"? You seems brainwashed and thats the exact reason why elements like ISIS are proliferating. Please go learn and get some teachings from Wayfarer.

The Russians are same as US., using Syria as their military playground to advance their own agenda.

So in your eyes the Russians, USA and international action must be withdrawn against the evil? How was things before they got involved again?

This reminds me of who supports a particular rugby team. What they say in their own homes in front of the world news is bound to be different to what they are expected to say as good Muslims, and what they would write in any survey.

I'm sure when US soldiers in the Middle East are injured, many Muslims are cheering.
