Well, sounds like Turkey will just tell the Russians that their claim to be attacking Assad is just what they have to say to keep the Kurds in line domestically. Unless the Turks do more than mess with the Kurds, why should Russia get prickly about anything? For them 'no pipeline' is also feasable.

Its quite easy to just claim that the statement is purely for domestic purposes. Whilst the truth is they are carving out a Golan Heights type situation that they can later use to put pressure on Syria.

Anyways, the west is essentially at war with the one whilst the other is considered an ally of sorts so none of this should be a surprise.

Military action has ended in eastern Aleppo, Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, has said.
He said Syrian government troops had re-established control over the last areas of the city held by rebels.

He said an arrangement had been made for rebel fighters to leave. The rebels confirmed the deal, but said civilians would also be allowed to leave.

The latest developments could bring to an end more than four years of vicious fighting in which thousands have died.

So Aleppo has finally been retaken entirely. Back to Palmyra then? Perhaps take the big fight to Raqqa?

The Canadian journalist, Eva Bartlett seems to be a seasoned middle eastern journalist, she definitely smacks down the guys questions well.
