The Syrian Conflict Thread

I fail to see how it could be either of these two groups, Russia would say so if it was. Some facts we have that are undeniable.

A gas of some sorts was let off.
Aircraft were involved.
IS or other rebel groups have no aircraft.

So you have conclusive proof the gas wasn't on the ground and released during the air attack?

I'm surprised by how many people have undeniable facts and evidence... when so far it's all just speculation and opinion.

Please read what i said carefully because thats not what i said at all.

The US ? :crylaugh:

It's an area where only Russian and Syrian armies fly. US planes would have been detected and seen...

Someone give Narrow a lozenge, his throat is horse from all the wolf crying.

I will let you read this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destruction_of_Syria's_chemical_weapons

http://www.lefigaro.fr/internationa...-en-syrie-histoire-d-un-massacre-de-masse.php

11 chemical attacks, of which 10 attributed to Assad.

Chlorine is readily available (for the chemical industry) and chemical weapons are very easy to hide.

"Syria never signed the Chemical Weapons Convention, the current international treaty against the use of poison gas, but it did sign the 1925 Geneva Protocol, which banned the use of chemical and bacteriological warfare, according to the international Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW.)"

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/05/middleeast/syria-sarin-chemical-weapons-explainer/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_chemical_weapons_in_the_Syrian_civil_war

Also, 90% of the attacks or more are carried against enemies of the Syrian Army, half of the ones reported by the Syrian are not evidenced, and if you go further in the reports, the ones used against the Kurds, the rebels, Aleppo... match the government stockpiles. What a coincidence, must be the UN, the OPCW must be biased.

And a proof that Assad has always been lying:

But yeah, Assad is an angel, he would never have done that, he threatens just for fun. The modus operandi is the same than the ones before.
The wiki links is pretty good. It brought back fond memories of Obama's red lines and John Kerry sticking his foot in his mouth messing up the US change to go to war.
None of them however backup your claims and they make it clear that the terrorists groups in the area have access to the same chemical weapons.
Couldn't read the French one.

I am curious what amount of evidence or type of evidence will be required?

No doubt if evidence will be provided one camp will say nope its biased and so forth.

NOTHING WILL COME OF THIS!

Exact. And Assad knows it perfectly, the Russians play the same game.

Plausible deniability, its what Russia loves hiding behind.

It is

A gas of some sorts was let off. correct
Aircraft were involved. And how do you know the gas came from the aircraft?
IS or other rebel groups have no aircraft. Point 2 makes that immaterial at this stage

Where's the evidence that aircraft were involved in the release of the gas? Or are you blaming the pilots if they happened to bomb a building containing a tank of sarin on the ground which ruptured and spread around the vicinity?

The correct answer is that so far there is no real evidence of who the perpetrators where. Whilst it could be the Syrians, it could also be someone else.

And there will never be because the evidence is destroyed, either bombed or burst.

That's exactly why Assad and the Russians play dumb.

Now ask yourself who benefits from the crime ? Who gives irrealistic answers ?

It could also be the Pope throwing it from a flying donkey, nobody can disprove it. But the most likely remains Assad.

Nope, you still haven't read carefully.

I never said there was evidence the gas came from the planes. Russia claims it came from warehouse that was bombed by planes, the US said it came from Syrian aircraft, either way aircraft were involved... Get it now???

Actually if barrel bombs were involved, it's most likely thrown from helicopters.

The shells of the bombs should be enough. This would make it posible to determine what it was, the delivery platform, was it dropped from a plane and who has access to it. Then if it was dropped from a plane the radar data to identify the plane.
I obviously don't expect to see the raw data myself even though that would be nice. A official report from some authority with the above details would be proof enough.

50/50 Syrian govt forces or IS..

IS are backs against the wall, don't think they'll act like rational civilised forces. Anything goes for them as well.

Contradicting yourself a little bit.
They have gathered shells of the bombs, sent for analysis.

That's what France, UK and US are asking for at the UNSC. Flight plans and radar data, Russia is backpeddling to try to not provide it without putting a veto.
