The BF was driving behind me Sunday and then told me my passenger side brake light is out. Ai tog. Going to see if I can swing past Tata EastRand Mall today on my way to a client and see if they can replace the bulb for me.

I seems to have popped the left and the right one recently on my car, hopefully it just due to age. As they were 5 years old.

lol .... I would not even know where to starte to get the light unscrewed. I know it must be somewhere in the boot, but I will rather have someone do it that knows how to

Please don't go to a dealer for a globe or else they going to screw you over. Rather go to Middas and ask someone to put it for you buy him a cold drink.

Once paid R570.00 at Honda for a light bulb that cost R10 at autozone.

With some car brake lights depending how they are wired, if you replace the one side, pretty much immediately the other side will blow due to the change in resistance, our E46 BMW did this like clock work so we just used to replace both at the same time.

Replacing the bulbs in my Tata Indica was an adventure - not only are there the two mounting bolts in the hatch aperture that you need to remove (using a size 10 ring spanner) but there is ALSO a third 'hidden' securing location as well - a plastic wing-nut placed INSIDE the rear wheel well - that you need to unscrew & remove BEFORE the light fitting can be completely detached from the body-work.

Thanks to Google, a handy video showed me this elusive wing-nut removal procedure, so I was able to safely (and easily) remove the tail-light unit to replace a faulty bulb - and then safely re-install everything back again.

However, if the TATA dealership is willing to do the bulb replacement for you, then watch them doing the procedure, so that next time around, you will be able to do it on your own.

I did that when I needed two front fog-light bulbs replaced - Tata Edenvale charged me R 400 labour for this - I watched them doing the bumper removal / re-fitment and when the one fog-light bulb needed replacing a few years down the line, I managed to do it all myself.

That's a very reasonable labour charge - saves you getting your perfectly manicured nails dirty or damaged!

I notice that this thread was started in 2015 and now I'm reading that bulbs have to be replaced.

I acquired a Jazz in 2004 and sold it in 2016 and never had to replace a bulb.
Our 2013 CR-V still has all the original bulbs.

BTW I was told many years ago that the correct technical term is 'lamp'.
