company of heroes - that was a great game. But most important? I'm not sure about that. I would include at least one Relic game though - when was Homeworld released?

The absence of Oblivion and NFS Most Wanted is a major oversight

I take most of these 'lists' with a pinch of salt - anything missing The Witcher EE and Oblivion can't be much of a list.

don't think nfs most wanted was all that important. There were better racing games - Grid, Burnout 3 for instance.

The list is way off!

That list is about recent successful games.

At the moment can only think of a few games that influenced the design of other games this past decade.

Dungeon Siege
Neverwinter Nights
Call of Duty
Medal of Honor
Ghost Recon
Kotor
Doom 3
Far Cry
Unreal tournament (Mar 1999)
Quake3 (Dec 1999)

but for a true list of influential games we need to go back to the 90's.

Just from reading everyones comments, I think the list should have been boken p between multiplayer and single player. Many people prefers certain games for multiplayer and single player reason as well.

GTA 3
Fallout 3
HL2

Excellent single player games.

CS best multiplayer etc.
