New Toyota Hilux accessories detailed
We detail the Toyota Approved Genuine Part Accessories currently available with the new, ninth-generation Hilux.
The new Toyota Hilux (see pricing here) officially launched in South Africa in June 2026, with the initial local model lineup comprising five double-cab and two Xtra Cab derivatives – all employing the Japanese automaker’s proven 2.8GD-6 engine, available in either “standard” or 48 V mild-hybrid format. However, Toyota’s local arm has confirmed the new Hilux single-cab will join the range later in 2026, with the 2.4GD-6 diesel engine, along with a manual transmission, set to be introduced to the ninth-generation lineup in 2027.
Toyota SA offers the latest Hilux – which we sampled in flagship, Legend 4×4 guise in Namibia – with a selection of Approved Genuine Part Accessories. Having had a browse through the firm’s website, we take a closer look at what’s currently on offer.
Toyota Hilux accessories
Starting with the interior accessories, front and rear dash cams, and scuff plates in either plastic or stainless steel are available across the lineup. The range-topping, Legend variants can also be specified with an electrochromatic rearview mirror and a welcome door lamp – the latter illuminating ‘Hilux’ on the floor below the door. The ‘Toyota’ emblem on the tailgate can be specified in black or silver. Rubber floor mats can be specified to the Xtra Cab. To name but a few, exterior options include a clear bonnet protector, side body mouldings featuring ‘Hilux’ lettering, a side visor, Kevlar door handle garnish, bonnet lift and tailgate assist, a wheelhouse liner set, and chrome-finished exhaust tip. A front under guard is also available for Raider and SRX spec.

• Massive 5.3m length, heavy steering & large turning radius make it cumbersome in the city• Bumpy ride quality, especially at the rear (due to leaf springs)
• Ingress & egress is not easy for the short or elderly
• No hybrid, petrol engine or manual transmission on offer
• Cost-cutting in a couple of areas; some interior plastics, camera display…
• Uncomfortable rear seats with limited rear legroom
• The same money can buy you a proper 7-seater SUV
• Missing features aplenty such as ventilated seats, rain-sensing wipers, seat lumbar adjustment, paddle shifters, ADAS, electronic parking brake, etc. Feature deletions vis-a-vis the outgoing car include auto-dimming IRVM, driver seat electric adjustment, cooling for the upper glovebox, climate control system, rear A/C vents, leather upholstery and more

If you work as a product planner in the car industry, nothing is certain. There was a time when German luxury sedans were the most profitable models in the world. In fact, they were so in demand in the 1990s and early 2000s that German car companies hardly had to market them. Today, the German industry is in crisis due to shrinking profits. Cue the Hilux as an example of how to do it right.
Toyota South Africa Motors doesn’t have the same problem as the Germans. Basically, whatever it does, works. Toyota is the world’s biggest car company, so you would expect it to be successful everywhere. But in South Africa, it holds a proportionally higher market share than anywhere else in the world. And most of that dominance is because of the Hilux.
Hilux has become its own brand…
Most South Africans aren’t old enough to remember a time when the Hilux wasn’t South Africa’s best-selling vehicle. For Toyota South Africa Motors, the presence of Chinese bakkies has not really challenged its Hilux success. Despite being old, the previous-generation Hilux bakkie was still South Africa’s dominant model range last year. There’s no doubt that the new Hilux will sustain the model’s sales dominance in South Africa, or more likely increase it.
From commercial buyers who order single-cab Hilux bakkies with steel wheels, to parents who buy a double-cab Hilux as the family vehicle, this model range is so successful that it’s legitimately become a brand unto itself.

Yes, with production of the new single cabs having commenced earlier in August 2026 at Toyota’s Prospecton facility in KwaZulu-Natal, we can now confirm the initial 9th-gen single cabs have gone on sale locally in SRX guise (with various 8th-gen Hilux 2.4GD-6 single-cab derivatives soldiering on).
According to our information, the new Hilux Single Cab 2.8GD-6 SRX 6AT 4×2 is priced at R587 200, while the new Hilux Single Cab 2.8GD-6 SRX 6AT 4×4 starts at R663 800. In each case, Toyota’s familiar 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine delivers an unchanged 150 kW and 500 Nm – to either the rear or all 4 wheels – via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
While we’ve yet to ascertain each variant’s payload capacity, we do know the SRX grade includes 17-inch steel wheels (wrapped in 265/65 R17 tyres), black bumpers and black exterior door handles. Inside, you’ll find fabric seats, a polyurethane steering wheel and 8.0-inch touchscreen, along with 2 USB ports and a 12V power socket.
