The truth about Openweb

I don't know why you guys expect MyBB to start making decisions on the consumer's behalf.
Last time I checked it was up to the customer to make the decision.
Expecting your Media outlets to make decisions on your behalf is an incredibly stupid thing to ask for.

Pretty much what I just said! hahaha. Nice one LL.

Look, at the end of the day Sonic2k - any smart ass person will not really be bothered by what MyBB allows to be published or not - "us" smart guys do research - we find these 'threads' - we read them, we make our own choices.
It's all about choice - some of us make the wrong choices and then end up joining us in these threads.

Exactly, that's why I am here as well.

Ja, no... look. The Partner Articles are essentially big paid for adverts. And no advertiser is going to allow critics to append their complaints onto the bottom of their advert.
That's just a stupid business decision. The investigative side of MyBB did do an article on OpenWeb and the conclusions are left to the customer.
These threads are here and available for people to read and educate themselves.
But at the end of the day, the final decision lies with YOU, the customer.
Don't expect others to make those decisions for you. That's just a dumb way to live.

How are we being given a choice when mybb disable comments to decide on what they want us to hear?

You can post here, can't you?
Why do think you deserve the right to add your comments to somebody else's paid-for advertisement?
Pay for your own advertisement, and then you can add your own comments.

What about let's advertise meth on here? I don't see the difference with advertising the poisonous OW products

If you have the assumption that OpenWeb is doing something criminal, you are welcome to report it to the police.

I don't expect that. You know what I don't like Gary, is the continued tolerance of known scammers.

Some of the magazines I read, have a policy that, if it should come to light that one of the advertisers are engaged in dodgy dealings, they are dropped- finished!. It has to do with integrity- something that some of us still have. But it is fine, I understand, getting tired of fighting a moot point. This is the same situation as the local tabloid Huisgenoot, still people are able to advertise Tarot horse-shyte and other crap in there without restriction. It is actually a joke here, because here we cannot even say the word "s**t".

Its no biggie, all it does is bring your company into disrepute. I have in any case now resorted to old school methods to find out info about internet service providers as I cannot believe a word that is written here, except for the comments of some people whom I respect

I have tried to do that Gary... the problem is the cops don't understand the technicalities.

Sonic2k

Dude, seriously, we know you hate OW, we all do. Why do you continue to aggravate yourself over this. Trust me its not worth it and there are worse things in life than something that doesnt even affect you.

The mods have made it clear they have their views and opinions and the only person that can actually do anything is rpm. If you have an issue take it up with him. Its Friday, just take a chill pill

Does Huisgenoot have a forum though where people can vent their opinions about such "known scammers"?

I am talking about what is going on here. I thought Mybroadband was for the good of broadband in SA

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyBroadband

One of the main objectives of MyBroadBand is to change the current South African broadband landscape, focusing particularly on ADSL,[citation needed] which is dominated[citation needed] by the state-controlled monopoly Telkom.

This is what we the people believe, not sure if that's exactly what's going on here

So, you want somebody to tell you want to do?
OK. I'll do that.
Don't use OpenWeb.
There ya go.
You're welcome.

Fair point.

We will welcome the disgruntled users here (if they still choose to come to the forum) once they realise they have been swindled by Opensewer.
It seems like money talks and bullshyte walks is actually true.
What was once a bastion of free comment and championing the cause of customer information has turned in to something else entirely. Articles that "promote" unfair business practice. Articles that ignore good ISPs and promote bad ones.
