The UCT - Cecil John Rhodes Statue Thread

So that guy calling that woman a black bitch a few months ago wasn't racist. Great!

Using someone's skin colour as a negative adjective is generally considered an insult, thus to some it is considered racist. I don't care if it is or isn't as long as the same rules apply to everyone.

Back to the discussion of statues:
Snapped this off Twitter.

I can taste their tears now

Given that they're in the most prestigious university on the continent, your comment is ridiculous

Well they're certainly not acting like civilised people! Hounding a lecturer because she stood up to the mob.

By the way, it is very easy to pass a Humanities degree these days...

So you say. I doubt most people could.
And simply getting into UCT is one hell of an achievement

LOL, does the lecturer know what protest means? It is normally a loud affair. Hence the word protest. Seems like the lecturer's IQ is lacking LOL

Well they were busy 'protesting' inside a university building that has numerous lecture theaters and a computer lab. I'm sure she was doing her duty as an academic to allow those who want to learn to do so in peace and quiet.

Surely instead of trying to take on protesters, she could've postponed her lecture? But to ask protesters to be quiet is quite silly.

Uhm, nope. The 'protestors' can fsck right off. They don't have the right to infringe on the other students' rights.

No they don't. But it happens. And they do have the right to protest. And they were not harming anybody. Would you go outside while people are striking to tell people to shut up? No. Why? I can only assume you are smarter than that.

They're still the ones in the wrong. Which means campus security/SAPS should remove them so they can protest without disrupting the education of people who don't want any part of their crap.

I'm now questioning your lack of IQ.
Go troll somewhere else.

Unfortunately with the current admission criteria differing depending on the colour of your skin this cannot be guaranteed.

Tell these filthy poo throwers to f.o.

If it wasn't for Rhodes they wouldn't even be there.

And while you're at it, take away all those benefitting from the Rhodes scholarships.

I still don't get it. What do they have against Jonty Rhodes? :)

On a serious note. Those students have too much time on their hands. To study at an university is a privilege. (Bet they are BA students)

Do South African universities typically have anonymous marking implemented?
