The ultimate MacBook Pro dongle

Why can't they just include the ports in the design? Look at the Thinkpad X1 Carbon for example...

Same reaso the headphone jack disappeared on the iPhone.

Money

Ideally MBP should not have sound chip either. Ultimate USB Type C will do it, so there is no reason to obscure design anymore. They are going to correct it in the refresh release, I think.

I recently deferred an upgrade to my 2015 mbp because I don’t want to have to deal with more dongles.

The hub – the HyperDrive USB-C Hub + 7.5W Qi Wireless Charger iPhone Stand – is aimed at MacBook Pro users, and easily reached its $100,000 funding target shortly after listing.

At the time of writing, the campaign had earned $395,000 with 29 days to go on Kickstarter.
...

The HyperDrive USB-C Hub is available to back from $109 and is set to launch in May 2018.

If the Macbook Pro is such a perfect computer with absolutely no faults, then why is this hub so popular? This is all the evidence a rational person needs to see that people who buy Apple products buy them because of the marketing w@nk, and not because of the supposed technical superiority.

There is an upside to this. It is amusing to watch someone taking their new MBP out of their bag at a meeting, including the tangle of things needed to actually make it work.

My mbp has 2x thunderbolt 1x hdmi and 2x usb. Yeah the usb ports are lacking IMO but i struggle to see what you're on about.

What i can guess is that you saw a dude maybe doing a presentation and your old as shyte projector is VGA.

In my post I explicitly referred to the new MBP, which is very different to the third generation one that you have.

just make a screen and keyboard(most amazing apple innovation since forever) then add dongles, why f around.

With my next screen purchase, I'm thinking of getting something that has USB-C and allows for charging an attached notebook. Then it should have a USB hub on board, maybe 3.5mm audio out, and perhaps a second USB-C port for attaching some storage or daisy-chaining another monitor. Thunderbolt would also work (and bandwidth limits would be much higher), but we need some seriously cheap TB3 controllers before this becomes viable.

Then my screen becomes a dock for the laptop.

We, with our HP Elitebooks and Lenovo T series always joke with them, that we have a solution for their "Donglelitis"
