The new Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label is scheduled to launch in South Africa at some point in the 2nd quarter of 2026, likely as part of a rejigged Amarok range. But, ahead of this “murdered-out” special-edition double-cab bakkie’s official market introduction, Cars.co.za can reveal pricing.

As a reminder, back in November 2024, after digging up a trademark filing, we speculated that VW might revive the “Dark Label” badge in South Africa, with history suggesting the Amarok would be the most obvious recipient. Of course, that turned out to be precisely the case.

What will the VW Amarok Dark Label cost in South Africa?

Volkswagen Amarok W600 Walkinshaw Revealed

The Volkswagen Amarok W600 Walkinshaw has just been revealed, boasting some impressive cosmetic and handling enhancements. Here’s what you can expect ahead of its arrival locally in 2026.

The second-generation Volkswagen Amarok has benefited from Ford’s know-how and while the Ranger and it share a lot in common in terms of engines and interior, there’s no halo model, until now. Enter the Volkswagen Amarok W600 Walkinshaw.

What is Walkinshaw?

The Walkinshaw Group is an Australian-based engineering firm which has built a serious reputation for its aftermarket enhancements and working closely with OEMs. This Amarok is not its first rodeo, it has worked with many brands prior.

Interestingly, it seems that the Walkinshaw enhancements are not for the off-tar excursions but rather on-road handling and dynamics. There’s a custom suspension with Walkinshaw-tuned Koni shocks and dampers and 22 mm anti-roll bar at the rear.

Exploring the Volkswagen Amarok: a journey up South Africa's iconic pass

It’s an important time for bakkie consumers in South Africa with important new models coming from Isuzu and Toyota but let’s not forget that Volkswagen is still very much in the mix with their Amarok range.

To remind us what the Amarok is all about, VW invited us on a five-day trip covering some of the most iconic passes that started in KwaZulu Natal and ended at Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, the home of Volkswagen Africa Group.

As a reminder, the Amarok is manufactured by Ford at their Pretoria plant in Silverton. While many of the oily bits are Ford based, the Amarok’s exterior and interior are still heavily infused with VW’s DNA.

On test we had the 3.0-litre V6 PanAmericana, 222kW 2.3-litre PanAmericana and the 125kW 2.0-litre TDI Life.
