The VW Caddy Thread

New Volkswagen Caddy Teased

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has released a pair of sketches showing what the new Caddy family MPV and Caddy Cargo will look like and we like it!

The Volkswagen Caddy serves as both a family MPV or cargo-hauling business vehicle and now Volkswagen has released 2 design sketches and a few details for the new 5th-generation Caddy which is due to be revealed in February 2020.

The most striking feature is indeed the sporty front-end which features a wide, lower inlet with a narrower air intake just above it. The white trim across the face of the Caddy gives the impression that the headlights stretch across the width of the vehicle. The second sketch also shows stacked taillights at the rear. All-in-all, we think this Caddy looks promising!

Volkswagen Caddy

It wins plaudits as a van, family MPV, shuttle and camper with limitless versatility: the Volkswagen Caddy. To date over three million have been built, and now, as a world première, VWCV is revealing the progressive, fifth generation of the Caddy. Every detail from the ground up is new, as for the first time the best seller is now based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB). Thanks to the MQB, new high-end technologies now find their way into the range. Innovative driver assistance systems enhance safety and make driving easier; networked infotainment and digitalised control systems turn the Caddy into a smartphone on wheels; a new twin dosing technique makes the TDI engines cleaner than ever before. The exterior has been given a completely new and strikingly sporty design. At the same time the space in the interior has also been significantly improved. The Caddy is an all-rounder, the Swiss Army knife of urban delivery vans and family MPVs.

Fifth generation Volkswagen Caddy revealed, based on MQB platform

All-new compact van features bigger interior dimensions and latest in connectivity and safety technology, plus the option of three diesel engines

The new, fifth generation VW Caddy has been revealed with a larger interior capacity, plethora of new technology and three diesel engines to choose from.

The new Caddy will come in panel van, MPV and camper form. Buyers will welcome the 93mm of extra length and 62mm of additional width over its predecessor, with extra width between the wheel-arches making for superior load and passenger capacity to its forbearer.

New (fifth-gen) Volkswagen Caddy revealed as ‘huge leap forward’

The new, fifth-generation Volkswagen Caddy has been revealed, with the Wolfsburg-based firm billing it as a “huge leap forward” for the nameplate.

VW claims “every detail from the ground up is new”, with the Caddy now running on the group’s ubiquitous MQB platform. The adoption of the latter means new technologies have been added to the Caddy’s arsenal, including various driving assistance systems and digitalised control systems.

Volkswagen's Caddy has been redesigned from the ground up for 2020

While the current Volkswagen Caddy can trace its basic bones back to the 2004 model, the 2020 model that you see here has been completely redesigned from the ground up.

The new Caddy also finally migrates to the MQB modular platform that already underpins most VW models, and this has allowed a number of advanced new technologies to find their way into the popular van range.

As before, the Caddy will be offered in a number of sizes and flavours, including standard-wheelbase and LWB ‘Maxi’ body variants and a range of specification levels from base to mid-range 'Life' and the new premium line called 'Style'. VW says that spec levels have been enhanced on all versions, with top models also offering push-button start, electric closing aids for the sliding doors and tailgate and a panoramic sunroof. There’s more space too, with the Maxi now reportedly capable of hauling two Euro pallets.
