The VW Caddy Thread

Many many moons ago I had the original Caddy.

A diesel in beige nogal.

One like that.

New Volkswagen Caddy Coming to SA in 2021

Following a pair of recent teaser sketches, further details of the new Caddy family MPV and Caddy Cargo have emerged. It's coming to South Africa in 2021!

The Volkswagen Caddy serves as both a family MPV or cargo-hauling business vehicle and more details of the new 5th-generation Caddy have now been revealed.

The Caddy is built on Volkswagen's highly scalable MQB platform and rather than re-designing the wheel for its new Caddy, Volkswagen design approach is more evolutionary. The face of the new Caddy and the grille in particular is much slimmer than before with newly-designed headlights and a honeycomb mesh design for the lower grille completing the front-end design. The Caddy's rear end gets slim vertical LED headlights. The Caddy will be offered with either a single large tailgate or dual rear doors as well as single or double side sliding doors. These doors can also be opened or closed electrically if you wish.

Fast MPV, anyone? New Volkswagen Caddy rendered as a GTI!

With the new, fifth-generation Volkswagen Caddy and Golf 8 GTI both recently revealed, digital artist X-Tomi Design has decided to (digitally) give the Wolfsburg-based automaker’s MPV the GTI treatment.

Sporting a similar upper facia to the production model, the Caddy (seen here in MPV guise) has received various GTI-specific design cues. As has become customary, a red line spans the edge of the bonnet, extending into the headlamps, while a GTI badge is fitted to the slim grille. Lower down, the Caddy has adopted the Golf GTI’s front-bumper design, which now features a honeycomb motif and integrated X-shaped foglamps. The hot hatch’s 17-inch five-spoke Richmond alloys have also been carried over to the MPV.

This 2021 model seems to have lost the charm of the current and older models.

I also don't understand why they would have changed the tail gate, surely side opening doors are better for loading ?

I agree with your 2nd part. Seems they focused more on looks this time round that actual versatility.

The commercial variant still has barn doors as an option.

@FiestaST is that the cross caddy version?
It's the top of the line Caddy Alltrack. Effectively the Cross Caddy yes. There was a naming change with the facelift & the Cross Caddy nomenclature was dropped.

This is the DSG version that costs a pretty penny but it's extremely versatile & pretty good looking for a van-based people carrier.
