The VW Up! Thread

I'd totally like one of these.
Small, nippy and probably a bit of a laugh to drive. Perfect for the urban landscape.
As others have said....it needs some xenons as a minimum for lights though.

So I was behind one of the new ones in traffic today, and I don't normally post arb stuff or complain, but...

The brake lights on the new model seem awful, in the sunlight I could barely see them at all, the plastic on the lenses almost seems like it's not clear or hazy? I dunno, might have just been this particular one, but I really couldn't tell from far whether or not this guy was braking until I was up close...

Too much 'blacked-out detail' in the new tail lights - reducing the overall effectiveness & surface illumination area of the actual lights.

It's much the same with the FIAT 500 as well - compare the original design tail light with the 'facelift' version - which now has a 'YUGE' body colour insert taking up about 50% of the entire tail light surface.

Looks like yet another case of the current car designers ever-increasing trend of 'form belies function' with 'style' taking precedence over actual safety & visibility concerns.

I thought the same this morning when looking at them, and in the sun the lights are more of a light pink than red, really doesn't catch your attention at all...
