BMR is "calories required to sustain life in a coma" (basically).1800 seems quite low thats why i made my comment. I am very active like 4 to 5 gym sessions a week minimum of 1 hour plus at 70-80% HR so maybe i have lost a bit of touch with things. I stopped tracking things maybe 2 years ago and meansurements have stayed more or less the same or increased from muscle mass. I have visible veins in my arms and hands now so fat % has been dropping as well.
Age: 43
Height: 171cm
Weight: 96kg
Using Miffler st Jeor mine comes out to 1819, harris-benedict says 1951
At a sedentary level (multiply BMR by 1.2) my maintenance works out to 2183 or 2341
A moderate deficit is 500 so 1683 to 1841.
Your sedentary maintenance (based on the same two) is 2369 to 2492 (depending on the formula). With you being very active both will have your maintenance at 3000+ pretty easily.
The huge problem for me is life happened and I became sedentary. So for 7 ish years my body slowly became more accustomed to less intake.
https://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html <- the calculator I used, the settings allow you to select a different estimation formula. And these are "estimations".
So my BMR "should" be around 1800ish... BUT it measured at 1707 on an inbody scan 5 months back - not perfectly accurate. But I do have MASLD (previously called non alcoholic fatty liver) so baseline my metabolism isn't functioning at the "average expected rate" (people get upset if you bandy about the word "broken" lol).
I'm constantly reassessing things and working with my doctor too.
I've become a LOT more active and might need to up my calories at some point... My performance in gym is still increasing. My work capacity and weights are continuing on an upward trend so that points to my calories not being "too low" currently. I have been adding muscle and reducing fat at the same time ("recomping") which is slower than straight fat loss. I'm hitting 150 to 180g of protein per day.

This was yesterday's gym session... I woke up with DOMS from my ears to my feet. lol. My schedule is often a bit whacky so when I get to gym I get stuck in. I'm doing a full body (I have to different programs which I alternate) as doing a "bro split" would mean I'd easily miss out on a body part etc.
It's always cool to hear when other people make massive changes and wins and I like getting other perspectives and ideas in how to do things or things I could do better. I will definitely need to up my intake over time as I build more muscle.
