The Witcher 3 Official thread

Just a note that this game will be DRM free so you will probably be able to pirate it a few hours after release or you can buy it from Takealot for R499 or you can buy it from GOG for US$53 which is a company worthwhile of supporting as they have always removed DRM from games, applied patches to enhance older games and made things work on newer versions of windows.

Can't wait for this :D

Turns out you get a GOG key with any physical copy, so I just ordered from Takealot.

CPU: Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
CPU Speed: Info
RAM: 6 GB
OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
Video Card: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660 / AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870
Free Disk Space: 40 GB

Pfft...My GPU just makes it (Radeon 7850) Time to look into OC tuts.

Pre-ordered as I have Tw1 and Tw2. This is something you just can't pirate! :)

GoG's distribution platform, Galaxy, hit open beta today. Still waiting for my email with the invite to come through :D sign up if you're not getting W3 through Steam.

No, today is the first time I've heard of its name although I did know they had their own platform coming.

I received my Alpha invite on Friday and tested their multiplayer system. The only games which I was able to test was Predator Classic and Rise of the Triad, no hiccups experienced, the ping was really good and the matchmaking was quick. I contacted them on their CDN nodes and it seems that SA is in the pipeline.

That's pretty awesome to hear, I'm glad.

Apparently Galaxy will be a requirement if you want to play with achievements (bar Steam), anyone able to confirm/deny that?

I don’t have a straight answer on the achievements, but it is highly probable that the achievements system will be cloud driven and thus requires a client. The Galaxy Alpha client is incredibly lightweight when compared to Steam, basically it loads the store and your library, and is very clean in design.

I can say that the disabled settings in the Alpha client include:

- Game Auto-Updating
- Achievements*
- Game Time Tracking
- Friends and chat
- Notifications

*It is there

Thanks for the insight, looking forward to my invite email coming through to test this badboy out for myself.

I received a TW3 code with my laptop (thanks mybb) but haven't redeemed it yet. Is it really worth it?

I'm probably biased since I think The Witcher 2 is the best RPG I've ever played but I'm gonna say yes anyway :D

Map size comparison

And there's 36 ending variants. Many sleepless nights shall be had from the 19th.

:wtf: You looking a gift horse in the mouth?

If your laptop has onboard nvidia gpu then that promo code expires 31May.

I know the previous games are not required to know what is going on, but I think I should play number two to see what's up and if I enjoy it.

Anyone remember how long it took them to finish The Witcher 2?

It took me about 1.5 weeks to beat the game on NORMAL. I completed all the side quests (including the DLC ones). Got the easy-to-miss end game weapons/armours. Jesus, it took me a while to get over what happened at the summit at the end of Chapter 3  Very disturbing stuff.

Great thanks, that means I can finish it in time for The Witcher 3.

Yeah, don't rush the story. It's extremely well-written. At the beginning, you WILL struggle a lot to win duels. It took me a while to get hang of the totally revamped Dark Soul style combat system. Be prepared to die a lot :D Potions and traps help a lot (unlike in TW1)! You feel naked without them. Seriously.
