The Witcher 3 Official thread

Greenmangaming has The Witcher 3 on sale for $39 which is about R470, which is the cheapest I've seen around. If you've got the bandwidth to download it, this is a great deal.

Have mine on preorder for a while from gog. Can't wait. System meets the requirement and more so no worries for me :)

Needing to check out the minimum (nevermind recommended!) required system specs for this game is like asking how much a meal marked SQ at a restaurant is. If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. Same with this, if you have to check...

Can't really blame it on Witcher 3 but I'm building a new machine just to be able to play it :o

About time though, my old rig is a dual core still with a 9600GT card in it. Laaitjie is just too chuffed he's getting the old machine :D

I'll get this at some point. Best looking open world game ever made.

I haven't played the first and second games though. The lock-on targeting method in the first game put me off since I was not used to that type of playstyle.

FX8350 4ghz
HD7870 crossfire
8GB RAM

So I should handle the game fine but probably not on max.

Really looking forward to this, loved the first two.

I desperately want the collectors edition (to match my Witcher 2 CE), but I'm not about to fork out R2,500 for it.

A new PC able to run it as recommended is setting me back over R 15k... But it will be used for more than just playing Witcher and long over due. If I upgraded my machine more frequently I would not have had this price tag now :o

While I have used Kinguin in the past without issue, it's not really an official distribution channel as such, so buyer beware and all. I usually try and use official channels for high profile games, especially prior to release, to avoid potential disappointment.

huh?
They have buyer protection.
Also using Paypal you have buyer protection as well.
They have a star rating system for sellers.

Kinguin is actually a recognized retailer.
Hell they sponsor many top e-sports teams now.
That is a legit site, no doubt about it.

I buy all the latest AAA titles there either preorder or when released.
Why should anyone pay Steam prices when sites like G2A and Kinguin offer the same exact games at reduced prices.
You get official Steam keys, nothing fake.

Seriously, the only reason to buy directly from Steam is during Sale time and even then Kinguin and G2A drop below the price as well.

Because you run the risk of purchasing stolen goods and having your key revoked, like the whole Sniper Elite 3 drama last year.

I still use them from time to time though ;P

I don't see how someone who has 4000 items sold with a 5 star rating would sell stolen keys.
Don't use the cheap ass Russian VPN copies, they could be dodgy.
I only buy the official keys.

I have used ABCkeys, G2A, Kinguin, etc. multiple times with no issues.
There was one transaction that got delayed in the e-mail via gmail, I mailed paypal and they replied the same day with the e-mail that was sent to the seller.
The same evening I had my key and an apology from the seller.
Let alone the fact that the original key arrived and I had to contact paypal and the seller to do my own apologies.

My point being, paypal will protect you in the event of any keys being 'dodgy'.
Not that I've ever experienced it before.

It's not that far behind a 660 I think, so maybe OC it & try it. Else upgrade your gpu, also gonna need 6GB ram

I have 8gb so will give it a bash. Here's hoping

Any recommendations for GPU? Needs to be backwards compatible with my mobo as I don't have the $ for a full upgrade for a few more months (Probably September or thereabouts). Motherboard is an ASUS P7P55D (LGA1156). Need to future proof the card for a few years

It depends on the key, both G2A and Kinguin trade and broker in keys, thus you have 'new' and 'used' keys. Digital goods are always considered new, however keys which are brokered can be Flagged and herein you have buyer's protection.

All GPU's will be backwards compatible.

What's your budget?

gtx 970 or r9 290 comes to mind. amd's new Rx 300 series will probably make an appearance next month I suspect so might be worthwhile waiting a bit.
