The Witcher 3 Official thread

Really, if you've bought the game and don't have the code yet, just get the torrent so long. This is what I did (bought from GreenManGaming), and even the GOG Galaxy client picks up the setup once you've installed the preload.

The joy of buying from shady resellers, eh? ;)

It is lots of joy. Around R660 for the Enhanced Edition, which is amazing value. It's not much skin off my back if I only get the code at release. My 8Mbit connection should download the game quite quickly.

G2A can only be so shady when it comes to GOG preorders.

I'll do that if I still don't have the code by tomorrow evening.

You're probably getting it on launch because they're pulling those codes out of boxed copies.

Anyway like BorkenRSA said, just grab one of the repack torrents and start downloading. Most of them are the GoG preload files anyway. You can use GoG galaxy to get the rest of the files on release. Saves you a couple of hours of downloading.

I'm hoping the day 1 patch will be available as a manual download so that I can finish it before TakeAlot delivers my copy.

Seen comparison videos of PC ultra and ps4 and ... They look practically alike

There's quite a big difference in performance, so the videos couldn't have been of a high standard. 60fps 1080p with much larger draw distance, antialiasing and higher res textures etc. makes quite a difference.

On youtube yes, in real time no. You can't really use a compressed video to compare the two.

I'm not overly phased. Graphics have never mattered that much too me.

As long as I get to do some Witchin I'm happy.

The final game looks nowhere near as good as the 35 minute gameplay video shown last year.

Still looks pretty good though. But that's what consoles do to PC gaming. Devs have to develop with huge scaling down in mind. It doesn't make financial sense to develop two separate games, so the best case is PC getting a console version pushed to the limitations of the game's asset quality and rendering ability.

Except for the actual engines being used things like draw distance, textures etc. can all be included and toggled via settings/different build configs.

Surely entry to mid-level gaming PCs will need this downgraded as well?

Eish, haven't you seen some of the bad reviews of g2a regarding preorders?? There was one game launch where guys only got their keys 2 or 3 weeks after launch

I have G2A Guard enabled. Either I get the code on release day at the latest or get my money back. I've only ever once had an issue on G2A, and even then it was just a non-working code that I was refunded for.

Yeah sure. Although a midrange PC will still be superior to the console versions.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The minimum requirements were pretty high. I've got a midrange PC and I didn't even meet the minimum requirements. It's very possible that CDProjekt did this in an attempt to enable more people to play it.

At the end of the day excessively high requirements does cut off a significant portion of your userbase.

True but this was hyped to be one of those games that will push gaming to the next level...and it's not. It's just another RPG. I'll wait to here what you guys and the people at work say about it before I even bother picking it up.

Yes we know. We are being told every chance you guys get.

Only because it's true, and rather frustrating for those of us that enjoy seeing gaming advance technologically. It's not just graphics that can't improve with such low performance hardware. It's other aspects far more crucial to the experience that suffer too, like the quality and quantity of AI, quality and quantity of advanced rendering techniques, the resources that can be dedicated to the immersion of the game world in general etc.
