The Witcher 3 Official thread

Having completed DA 2 I can offer this.

The witcher 3 is a truly sandbox experience, think Skyrim but with better combat.
The choices you make in the DA series and mass effect series, have shades of grey. With TW 3, you find yourself saying "wtf did I just do a whole lot". Think 1000 shades of grey'ish.

Last, and most importantly, the quality and quantity of epic boobs in TW3 surpasses every game known to man.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I didn't enjoy Skyrim either - maybe the genre is just not for me...

Anyway, with the Steam money back offer it might be worth trying out

I really want to like it.

I've never been into RPGs (played a bit of Witcher 2 just before this game came out to see what it's like more or less), TW3 is awesome!

As good as TW3 is, CD Projekt's slow turnaround time to fix the xp issue is really annoying. You effectively have to wait for them to fix it. Important bugs like this should have priority. Very amateurish of them to leave it waiting this long.

/prays that Witcher 3 is one of the specials on the Steam Summer sale!

W3 has already had a hefty discount on G2A a few times already. Even the regular G2A price is good. Certainly better than any Steam sale discount this close to release.

DA II was complete balls.

DA II was pathetic, you could really see that the old Bioware was dead when it came out. Tali's reveal in ME3 being a ****ty stock photo was the final nail in the coffin for me.

Back on topic, yeah I'm pretty surprised that the patch isn't out yet, CPR are normally on the ball. The latest from them on this was

Because we will be working through the long weekend if needed to release the patch ASAP.

So sounds like we might only see it next week. Something as game breaking as no XP on main quests should be hotfixed ASAP, not something you wait to release along with a bigger patch.

Question . . .

I generally don't play RPGs. Whats the learning curve on The Witcher 3? Do I have to play 1 and 2?

The only thing witcher 3 and skyrim have in common is both being up world . Witcher series kills the elder scroll series in terms in story and characters, easily.

I don't. I continue playing and will just add any xp I lost via the console commands ;)

Not really but it adds to the story. If you have played the games and read the books you understand the different characters better imho.

I'm busy reading the books at the moment - will wait for the patch and then probably buy :o

Gosh! Theres books as well?

Yes. There is 1 short story and 3 novels translated in english and another 2 novels and 1 short currently being translated.

What I find interesting is those who have only played the games prefer Triss while those who read the books prefer Yen.

Not me. I prefer Yen. She's more sophisticated, is more attractive and doesn't have an annoying American accent.

From Geralt's perspective, she's also the adopted mother of Ciri and according to the Witcher 3 compendium, his 'greatest love'.
