Definitely get some cycling tights. It really helped with my saddle discomfort especially for longer sessions. Plus nobody needs to see you in public when you do indoor cycling.
I have a pair of danish endurance lycra pants (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08THJZD2H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1) , and I also have a pair of fdx mtb shorts which are actually a lot more comfortable (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09RZWNX8P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1).

I'm guessing that as I lose weight, the pressure on the saddle will decrease, which is good, but I'm worried that the padding on my ass will decrease as well! :D

I'm not a fan of those "voël verklikkers" that the roadies like. I mean there is no need for people to see I am circumcised through my cycling shorts.

What really works well for me is the padded underwear you can wear under your favourite baggies / cargo shorts.

The ones I have are very padded in the groin area as well so wouldn't put much on display. The padding in the butt does feel very strange and there's no way in hell I'll wear them in public.

Those MTB shorts look great.

It does get better with time, but doesn't go away entirely. I've replaced my saddle on the exercise bike with a more comfortable one, got the cycling tights with padding and I can still feel some discomfort around 30 min in and after 60 minutes I need to adjust seating frequently.

I'm still trying to fine-tune saddle placement and tilt as I also get some discomfort in my left hip/knee (I broke the leg as a kid and it's giving issues now).

Yeah - I sometimes look at roadies and think to myself - that's brave

Well to be fair, I used to wear the same out in public back in the day. But since then I identify more as a mountain biker so I only ride in normal shorts with padded underwear.

Do you have the padded underwear from the Takealot link? I looked at those but were undecided so go the tights instead. If those work well I might try a pair.

My arse hurts like there's no tomorrow
Only thing that fixes that is TITS.

Time In The Saddle.
Yeah, TITS is the best remedy. I find the static position on an indoor trainer much harder on the bum than riding out on the road or trails where it's more dynamic.

What I do, which really helps on the trainer, is stand up and pedal for 30-60s every 10 minutes or so. I've done many 2.5 -3 hour indoor rides with limited discomfort using this approach.

I do indeed, been riding with them since December, both on and off road, works very well.

Added.
So the padding is sufficient? So a review that said the padding isn't very thick. If you ate happy with it I think I might just add a pair to my next order to try out.

We are being hit with 4 hour load shedding between 18:00 - 22:00 and again from 0:00 - 04:00. Exercise motivation is below 0. Freaking Eskom!

For me they are fine - but then again, I do sometime ride without them in just normal shorts and underwear so I might be less sensitive?

Opposite for me in terms of motivation - I was amped to get out there and it was so worth it!

Same route as last Wednesday, 14 minutes faster, no use for eskom watts, supplied some to my own watts to the wheels and was rewarded:

Month 1 17/17
Month 2 19/16
Month 3 21/18

Month 4
De-load week 1 - 3 Hikes
Week 2 3/3

Another one down, had a brain fart on Tuesday whilst doing a straight leg dead lifts (only 40kg) used my lower back >_< now my lower back feels it cant believe I messed up the form one week off and I will never forget this again. Slight back pain/discomfort so will skip conditioning day so will end tomorrow for the week.

Giving back a rest and taking today and the weekend off. Will avoid dead lift next week and make sure to take it easier till fully healed.

Decided to take it easy today with only a 32 min / 12.5km ride.

I'm testing if having a sweatband on my wrist has any effect on the accuracy of my Amazfit Neo and it seems to make quite a difference as far as spikiness in the readings go.

Ride from 11 April (no sweatband):

One thing that has me concerned is that my resting heart rate is now down below 60 and around the 55 mark. This puts me in athlete territory according to bpm charts, and I'd hardly call myself an athlete. Not sure if I should be worried. (This is unless the Neo's readings are vastly inaccurate.)

You can check your pulse manually and compare it with what the device is saying. For your resting heart rate you'll need to take it when you are relaxed and have been still for a while (at least 5 or 10 minutes)

Did that and it seems pretty accurate as far as I can tell. Even compared it to the bpm meter on exercise bike (while only sitting on it) and it was within 2 beats of each other.

Everyone is variable and heart rate is a tiny tiny part of performance. You ain't turning into a meta-human anytime soon :)

I have friends on both extremes, one has a resting heart rate in the low 40s and another one in the 80's... both same age and both perfectly normal and healthy and average.

Yeah, I think I'm probably over thinking things. It was just a suprise to sit in the office and notice a 55 bpm and then I checked the historic data. If I recall correctly I used to be at 80 - 90 before. On the upside I don't think I've ever been this fit before.
