The Workout and Fitness Thread

Moved exercise timing to 05.30pm instead of 07.30pm as it is somewhat cold by 7.30pm and not really optimal. Winter makes one more hungry than usual at evening though - not sure if it is universal

Yesterday, Kettle bell 015 - 30 minute, 208 calories. Static cycling, 15 minutes, 100 calories.
What's "Kettle bell 015" or is it 15 to 30 minute, and if so which was it?

Squeaky bum time! Just made it - 14 consecutive Vitality fitness weeks

Cutoff is tonight so had to get ‘er dun!

Plan015 kettlebell (100 x 24kg 2H swings + 100x pushups in 30 mins).

Anaerobic session was way easier than the VO2 Max one. Even felt good enough to do an extra couple of mins to get to 7km. I seem to start way too fast and then have to slow down to keep at the right pace. My heart rate also struggles to get low enough during the recovery intervals.

I'm surprised I even managed a best pace of 3:40 at one stage. Didn't know I could go that fast!

Anaerobic run: 7.03 km / 54:01 / 7:41/km Avg Pace / 550 Calories / 146 Avg HR

Not sure what I did wrong for the training effect to be be Tempo instead of Anaerobic.

Sometimes we lose a little traction. Some days and weeks we need to change things up a bit, be wild, so to speak. And thats the beauty of a routine, it waits silently until you take it forward.

Ease into it and before you know it, three weeks will have passed.

Had a long rung for today. Just couldn't keep my heart rate down no matter what I tried so the run wasn't a base run by any stretch. It's either anxiety due to doing a new route solo or I'm coming down with something. My resting HR has been trending up the past 2 days. Hopefully I'm not getting sick.

I was so focused on heart rate that I completely misjudged the time. By the time the workout ended I was still 4km out. So I unintentionally ended up doing my longest run, and first ever 15K.

Long run [Goal 01:24:00 @ 140 bpm] :15.20 km / 1:53:01 / 7:26/km Avg Pace / 1,133 Calories / 148 Avg HR

Only 14 minutes of walking time. I'll take that considering how hard I struggled with the heart rate.

15km at that average with so much walking is still really good, you must be pushing yourself too hard, i dont achieve that with no walking, I don't 14km either no stopping at around 1:30 or so

Cleaned up garage and moved most of KB's, mat etc there. Better this way as stuff from SO & son is everywhere in the house so I battle to find proper space.

KB015 basterjized to see if calorie consumption changes.
10 KB swings with 16Kg
5 push-ups + 5 military press with 20kg

Pushed up consumption to 247 instead of usual 210 so it kind of worked a bit.

May god of the KB015 forgive me for I have sinned.

I don't think I'm pushing myself too hard. 1:53:01 for the 15K doesn't seem to be a very fast time and there was never a point where I really felt like I was pushing myself. Unlike my sub 30 min 5K where I really pushed myself hard. This was more an easy run, but I just couldn't get my heart rate to the 140-145 level where my normal base runs are at. It got better towards the end for a bit.

Hoping it's just anxiety especially since there where loads of cars passing and at stages there are basically no verge to avoid traffic. Nothing spikes my heart rate like idiot drivers speeding by.

My running buddy who normally keeps me slow and steady couldn't make it so I did go faster than ideal.

Ah sorry I read the goal as what you did, thus thinking you did it in 1:24 with the walking

Yeah, though that might have been the case. I normally put the workout suggestion at the start and actual result afterwards. Clarified it with the brackets. If I did a 15K in 1:24:00 I would be amazed. Still lots of work to do to get to that point.

Yeah but in fairness you are probably still in top 5%, most people cant even run 1km

Very true. It's easy to lose sight of the big picture. At the start of the year I wouldn't have been able to do it. Now I can. There's always progress even if it doesn't feel like it.

Anyone have any feedback on any of these comp kettlebell brands and how the brands differ?

The obvious things I can think of are checking handle welds / finishing - but it’s hard to compare when you can’t find / see them all in one place…

Price parity is pretty similar (+-R600 difference for 2 bells combined between brands - baring the 8kg where sportsman’s is about R1500 cheaper per pair (with vitality discount).

I agree. It will be an achievement for me if I start running one day and could sustain for 1km at a decent speed.
Remember I said that my goal for the year was to be able to run a 5K. Look at where I'm now. Anything is possible.

Have a recovery day today, but I'm going to take a full rest day. I don't feel ill, but something is definitely up according to my resting heart rate.
