Welp. Was going to start a trial of a Runna plan today, but somehow while asleep I've done something to my ankle/achilles. Wtf. Can barely walk without a limp

Could be overuse? That's how my foot issues started. Was fine after the run, but the next morning the pain was there.

I'm slowly ramping up to normal again, but will force myself to take 2 rest days a week and only run on 5 days.

Definitely not. Between the weather and generally not feeling great I've only done 6km in the last week.
Last run was Saturday's parkrun.

I think it's just my body reminding me I'm over 50

Aging sucks. I thought I was perfectly fine running every day and then the injuries started hitting.

Base run today. Knew it would be a tempo result so pushed things a bit during the last stretch to test out the new shoes. Strangely enough when HR hit 180+ I felt like I could go much longer, not that I was tired. That was while running uphill into a strong headwind at 4:20 pace.

Sprint session wasn't too bad. The wind was another story. Had to make sure that I ran downwind otherwise I wouldn't have been able to hit the required pace. I'm a bit rusty on ability to run fast.

Struggle for rhythm early this morning. Horrible thing about December is that the only time you can get a free lane in a pool is first thing in the morning. Oh well, at least it rinsed out my earwax.

Swimming is such a great form of exercise when you think about it - You've got cardio plus resistance, it's low impact, full body and it hits muscles and movements that aren't necessarily that easy to train otherwise.

I love it. I started because jogging was making my knees and ankles hurt before it tired out my cardiovascular system (since fixed by getting zero-drop shoes).

It’s also very quiet because you can’t listen to music or podcasts unless you go buy special equipment. So it’s a good time to just relax.

Rowing machines - worth the effort?

Little guy turned 8 months this morning, in addition to 4km daily walk with my wife, dog and son I try gym 4 times a week. Yesterday I thought what the heck I used to run I'm 15kg ligher I have cardio built into my routine during the week and used to run 60km a week in the past so I decided let me pop a quick 4km pram run into my weekend mornings and then my wife can also have some peace.

Worked like a bomb think I'm hooked again!

Used to do a 5km in 22-25min I'm happy with these times this is one Hella hill I'm running and also pushing a pram with a 10kg baby

That's very good. You put me to shame doing a similar pace with higher HR and no 10kg baby. ;)

Thanks much appreciated! I think there is loads of fitness transfer from my current regime and daily walks. As I said I used to run loads just don't have the time anymore but will fit these in on the weekend!

As I said I think the 15kg lighter myself makes a world of difference too!
