The 'wow' factor

OK, SO CISCO'S TelePresence isn't new. The global networking giant has been implementing it internally and selling it to clients for the past 18 months. But it's still relatively new in South Africa and prohibitively high bandwidth costs mean it's going to remain a niche-use technology in the short to medium term.

Heh - my company uses skype internationally - we have 5 way conversations between India, SA, China, USA and Kenya over skype for the price of the bandwidth. Can't say the color of the room or lack of video is a problem. But hey - different strokes?

...with video? What type of internet connection do you use?

I'm guessing no video :D "lack of video"

Skype is pretty good mostly - we sometimes use it as well.

sounds to me like all parties have to get set up in one of these rooms wherever they are in the world, so aside from the schlep down to your local cisco office for a meeting it sure beats an 18 hour international flight! :o
