how old are the batteries, if they are 2 years or older they could be on their way out
 
Hey guys where can i buy a 12month xbox live gold membership? I saw on take2 they selling for R608 but that is way too much. Anyone know of a cheaper site?
 
What sort of repair options are there for a 1 light e74 error? my replacement 360 (march '08 w/HDMI, if I remember correctly) has just died. I'm out of warranty so if there is a more permanent fix, instead of getting a refurb and waiting for the next failure, I am keen to try.

I remember maestro mentioning a new re-ball serivce coming in march, as opposed to the re-flow. Does the 1 light e74 apply to this? If so, what sort of cost am I looking at?
 
For interest sake, the new update allows for usb storage. Can you load games onto this? What's it used for. Could i load Forza 3 second disk to the usb. (its an arcade).

basically yes you can load games to the flash disk, the new update allows you to use a USB flash disk exactly how you would use a XboxHDD or memory card
 
Hard drive transfer

If you do a hard drive transfer you need to go to http://www.xbox.com/drm/ and follow the steps, which will log you onto xboxlive and allow you to transfer your licenses of downloaded content to your new hard drive. You will need to log on to xboxlive with your xbox at the same time, you have a 30 minute window otherwise you need to restart the licensing again. You can only download 30 licenses, and video content (movies) cannot be transferred

This can only be done once a year.

Transfer cables are still not available in SA, I had to import one to do the transfer.
 
Noob question. I bought a 360 arcade. I don't plan on going online , but do I need a HDD?

nope you dont, your arcade should have 512mb memory so that will be good enoug for saving games and system updates. if you want a bit more memory cheap you can use a flashdrive(max 16 gb) on the latest xbox firmware, i have an older arcade with 235 mb and i go online to play and its sufficient for me still havent had any probles with regard to lack of space.
a HDD works great if you plan on installing the game to the HDD to decreas DVD load times, but without it its still prety fast

Hdd is also great for downloading demo games.

PS.. you can download the latest firmware from Xbox.com. just follow the instructions. You don't need your console to be online.

hi, if got a 16gb usb flash disk for my xobx 360 but every time i want to use it, it says i should configure the drive...when i do that, it says "cant configure storage device"??? does this mean xbox is only compatible with with certain brands or do i have to format it in FAT32 mode?? i want to use it to download demos, use it for game saves etc.

it should work fine with any usb flash disk, maybe its corupted somehow try formating it with your pc and try again
 
does any one know how you reset you xbox, in other words, the light are flashing but nothing happens, similar to what you would get on a pc with its reset button and the bios clear options?

oh, and i see that the xbox update is like 90 odd mb, are the smaller ones somewhere?

how would you know if your xbox is updating?? if had mine for 2 months now, the 360 S, and never got a message telling me it has to update? i mainly play online so when i connect to XBL it should tell me there is a updated available??? also, i cant watch any movies/series from my HDD??? keeps on giving me errors and when i try to download the media update, it just does nothing... if formatted the memory unit and external HDD but no luck...
